Re: Game keeps crashing (DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_RESET)

Reset nVidia Control Panel global 3D settings to default?

If you added the PvZ.exe to Program Settings, reset it too.

You could try the latest Beta drivers for nVidia.  Or even drop back a stable release or two.

Possibly try cleaning/scrubbing drivers before installing.

Reinstall the DirectX from the __installer folder in the PvZ folder.

Just throwing more stuff out there.  Has it ever worked?  If yes, rename the PROF_SAVE_profile to like PROF_SAVE_profile.BAK

  • I haven't edited the game settings on nvidia control panel and nvidia beta drivers won't fix this ☹️

Also tried to reinstall directx from the __installer folder, but didn't fix it either.

What do you mean by "Has it ever worked?", I can play for a few minutes, like 2/3 and then the game crashes, and I can't find the PROF_SAVE_profile file you mentioned.

If you switch it to Borderless instead of Fullscreen... no different either ? ☹️

The profile is in Documents but it doesn't matter, sounds like it never worked right.

If you can't get into options (sounds like you can), you can force borderless from the profile

    GstRender.FullscreenEnabled 0
    GstRender.FullscreenMode 2

    GstRender.FullscreenScreen 1

*I don't think that third one is even in the PvZ profile though

I had a directx error, not the same one, but my directx would crash every 20-30 minutes and I would lose all character textures, making characters disappear. Anyways, I saw someone suggest disabling the origin overlay for some other problem, but I tried it and so far it seems to be working for me. Probably at least worth a try.

LoL... I was specifically asked to stop suggesting this because the game uses OiG to join other people's games... Can anyone else confirm this works for the D3D errors?

    My goodness

Yea I think it was actually your post that I got it from. But it seems to have at least made it less frequent, I only just today got the error again. I still maintain that it is probably caused by some sort of memory leak (my problem at least), the problem just comes in finding out where the leak is and what causes it.
