Well the plants have gender, shouldn't the zombies too?

The plants are, for one thing, alive. For another they're plants. More than that they have a theme. Flowers are female, food and whatever the hell the chomper is are male. Flowering plants are female in real life too so it makes sense.

Now let's look at the zombies: An engineer, football star, infantry man, mad scientist, super hero, imp, pirate captain.
All of these are stereo typically male. And even if they weren't, there's no theme that can be applied to them.
