Well in order to be able to plant anything in the pots, you need stickers for the plant types. That requires you to go to the sticker shop and open the free sticker packs you got for purchasing the game... or buy some more. Considering you have another thread stating that you can't open the sticker shop... this issue most likely goes hand in hand with that issue and will get resolved as soon as you can access the sticker shop.

so should i hard restart my xbox or hope that ea fixes it? thanks for the answer

I'm pretty sure they asked you to hard restart to see if that fixes it. If not, then they'll try another solution most likely.
