Re: In-Game chat text!?!

I also wondered why there is no in-game communication other then v-chat.

I do agree there should be a text chat. Although people would probably just spam that like they seem to be doing with their Kinect, only at least I could mute the Kinect people not so much text spammers. Still there should probably be a text chat.

Would just need a feature in options to turn off text chat is all. The voice chat on the computer is very, very, VERY buggy, it needs a text chat, or they need to rework and fix the voice chat for the computer.

  • It would be cool to have a Chat at least in the lobby while waiting for the round to start up.  T

I personally think a chat would be filled with verbally abusive kids cursing at each other creating a toxic environment that would require EA to spend a lot of resources banning people for breaking the Terms of Service and afterwards handling all the people writing on this forum and contacting support about getting unbanned even though it's not likely to happen.

In short, I think they have probably already thought about adding a chat and realized that it would be more trouble than it's worth.

I think not having a chat (as convenient as it is) has probably saved PvZ GW 2 community from alot of Toxic/Negative trolling. Imagine a team of Roses destroying the Zombie team....can you just imagine the trolling?

I think the only real way in-game chat will work is if its locked to your team only. akin to what you have in some moba's. You can only chat in-game to your team. perhaps at the end of the round you can speak to all. filter out all language, easily doable if they add a language list.

  • text chat for pc would be really great, with the option to turn it off or ignore specific
    players, imo.
  • Carbonic probably nailed the reason at why there not text chat. Although it got the exact same problem for voice chat, but it don't work neither right now (at least in PC)

  • If they aren't going to do text chat, then they need to FIX THE VOICE CHAT FOR PC!!

It only works maybe 1 in 20 tries of pressing the press to talk button, it just doesn't pick anything up ingame most of the time.

  • Just to note with the voice chat. It does work, most of the time but if like me you are often is sitting in a teamspeak/ventrilo/mumble/discord voice server then the game recognizes that your input device is being used, thus it actually disabled VOIP in the background. i have tried the game with all these voice apps disabled and it worked fine.

i'd much rather have text chat than voice chat. I remembered in PVZ 1 all i heard was the wailing and screaming of little kids, it was awful.

I don't have TS/Vent/Mumble/Discord/Any other voice program installed except Skype, and Skype I have set up so it doesn't open on launch and I almost never use it.

I can sit there and press the left ALT button to talk, and start to speak, and nothing, I can do entire sentences, and nothing. I then tab into the leaderboard screen, and can toggle mute all, and at that point the speaker symbol next to characters names will appear, and then be X'd out, as I just muted them all, I then toggle it all on, and can start talking again, 'sometimes' this works, more often than not I have to do this 4 or 5 times before it works at all, and then often times it stops working as soon as I let go of the left alt button again.

This game has some serious buggyness issues, that seem to mainly circle around laptops, and this seems to be yet another one.
