Hey All,
I tested this out myself and got the same error. I did some digging and from what I gathered yesterday it appears the error is happening due to basically not enough players online playing. The volume is so low its just not matching anyone.
I called it out in my talks with some people and they will take a look but even with my set up I got the error because there wasn't anyone to match with when I tried. If I get info I will let you know but for now, it does not seem to be a game error but an error due to lack of volume in the game itself.

Thur Dec 14th 10am PST, XBox Series X. At worst, the game should allow me to start a new lobby - it doesn't allow lobby creation for ANY game mode. This is a server problem preventing players from joining at all. Prior to this error I was regularly in full 12v12 lobbies. Please escalate this problem to a higher development manager who will not just dismiss your concern with saying there are not enough players as this isn't true. None of the game modes start a new lobby. This is a live showstopper bug - please escalate this.
To test, have at least 5 of your testers attempt to join at the same time. It will allow none of them to connect proving your assertion wrong that it's a not enough players issue.
In another thread I mentioned this very same error occurred across the entire community, all platforms, a few years ago too and it was eventually resolved with a server patch. Some people report some kind of versioning error when a server build is made that doesn't allow so-called "out of date" clients.
I was at PopCap as a developer during the launch of GW1 and have regularly played it for the last 10 years. I have maxed out Xbox one and PS accounts for GW1; there is a very loyal and active fan base for this title.

@Montaignes I get it but it isn't as easy as having people jump in and update a game of this age like it used to be. I can add my own game to the list too but I am trying to see what we can do for everyone so we can get you back into the game.

Having the same issue on two different xboxs in different homes:
- Product: PVZGW1
- Platform:XBOX
- Which console generation do you have? Series X
- What is your Gamertag/PSN ID/EA ID? UBHPHAL/Daddybass45
- Date/time issue first occurred?12/11/ 8:00amPST
- What type of issue do you have? Error loading any game modes, not garden ops too (all Multiplayer)

- Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? try loading a multiplayer game mode

What type of Issue: I cant load into any game mode at all and get the same error message telling me "There are no available matches meeting your criteria." "Please try again later."
Which Mode has this happened: All of the them.
Which part of the mode: Don't know what your referring to here, but I am unable to load into any lobby for any of the game modes.
Summarize your bug: I am unable to load into any multiplayer lobby for any of the game modes at all and get shown the same error message on screen "There are no available matches meeting your criteria." "Please try again later." I will attach a photo of this error below.
How often does this bug occur: Literally every time I try to play the game everyday. I try everyday numerous times throughout the day and it doesn't work. I get shown the same error message "There are no available matches meeting your criteria." "Please try again later."
How can we find the bug ourselves: By trying to load into a lobby and seeing the error code on screen. Like I said earlier, it isnt an issue regarding player count because I know for a fact that there are tons and tons of people still playing and will continue to play once this issue is fixed. A day before the issue began for me, I was logging into full lobbies in seconds.
What happens when the bug occurs: I get the same, "There are no available matches meeting your criteria." "Please try again later," error message on screen and am completely unable to play any game mode.
What steps have I taken to resolve the issue: I have uninstalled the game and reinstalled, I have cleared my xbox's cache, I have restarted my xbox numerous times, I tried on other consoles, friends who also play have the same issue on their consoles as well. Nothing works. The only thing left to do is to bring this to the attention of EA to create a resolution in the form of a patch update so we can go back to playing this masterpiece of a game.

The error message that constantly comes up for me no matter what game mode I try to play.

- Which console generation do you have? SeriesX and PS5
- What is your Gamertag/PSN ID/EA ID? Montaigne (XBox) and Montaignes (PSN)
- Date/time issue first occurred? Started observing the error Monday Dec 11th after 9pm PST.
- What type of issue do you have? All multiplayer game lobbies across both XBox and PSN fail to launch and return the same error popup: "Matchmaking Failed. There are no available matches meeting your criteria. Please try again later."
- Which mode has this happened in? All 10 multiplayer modes: Welcome Mat, Team Vanquish, Gardens & Graveyards, Classic Team Vanquish, Classic Gardens & Graveyards, Mixed Mode, Gnome Bomb, Vanquish Confirmed!, Suburbination, and Taco Bandits.
- Which part of the mode? Unable to join ot create a new lobby for any mode.
- Summarize your bug: Start GW1, attempt to enter or start a new lobby for any of the 10 multiplayer game modes, observe error popup.
- How often does the bug occur? 100% repro, every time.
- Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? 1. Start GW1 on Xbox or PSN, attempt to join any multiplayer game mode by selecting the "Search for Game" button. Also can repro by joining with multiple people at the same time to rule out the "not enough players" theory. Observe that you cannot even create an empty lobby.
- What happens when the bug occurs? 100% of the time the user will observe a brief popup that displays "MATCHMAKING. Looking for really great sessions..." and then after 20 seconds exactly the error will display "Matchmaking Failed. There are no available matches meeting your criteria. Please try again later "
- What steps have you taken on your end to resolve the issue? I have fully uninstalled and re-installed GW1 on both the SeriesX and PS5. I have verify my accounts are good by purchasing card packs. I have fully powered down the SeriesX and PS5 and rebooted. I have disconnected from my gigabit wifi and reconnected. I have played other multiplayer games like Diablo4 to ensure my multiplayer connectivity is good. I have checked my "Stickerbook" to verify all consumables are still present on the accounts and nothing was missing. I have attempted to change outfits and abilities on my characters through the "Characters" menu and that all operates correctly as well.
