The PS3 system cannot run splitscreen, the same as Xbox 360. The new consoles have way more power (ram, processor) and are able to run the splitscreen and keep the map rendered at all times.
It was specifically stated that splitscreen was not available on the older consoles, hence the price (xbox was 30$ for X360 and 40$ for Xbox One).
Where is it specifically stated? I have read the entire back of the case and no where does it state that it is not able to do split screen. It says 2 to 24 network players. So regardless of what you say. You suckered us parents into buying a game for our children that they can not play together. This would be why my wife can not stand playstation and sticks with her nintendo. They are more family oriented than playstation and xbox combined. And by the way... A $10 difference in price doesn't make a damn bit of difference when an upgraded system costs $500.
