I spend the majority of my time in split screen on Plants vs Zombies: Battle for Neighborville. I enjoy doing most of the game modes and having me and my brother communicate and work together is very fun and awesome.
We find that doing Ops in Public can be annoying as you normally join later and it is harder to gain vanquishes on enemies, however I find it helpful when completing daily challenges related to Ops because joining in the middle of a match will allow you to obtain these challenges faster.
However, you can do Private Ops in split-screen, although it's not as effective. Simply go together to a free-roam region (Town Centre plants or Mount Steep for plants & Town Centre zombies or Weirding Woods for zombies) and do the Ops there. You need to complete these Ops games as specific characters to get extra money and rewards but you can replay these Ops modes infinite times as any plant or zombie if you wish, and it's private and other players apart from you and anyone you play with won't be able to join you in these Ops modes. Just make sure that anyone that was to join you joins the game before you start an Ops game.
