Re: Prize Bulb gain rate is outrageous.

@spIash_damageIf you have quit bfn, why are you here? To complain?

If you always look for negative, you can always find it.

If you’d actually read my posts, you’d see the answers in black and white... we (not me) are trying to help fix the game... same as day number one.  I’ve been a highly visible member of this community and have always tried to help it become better - dating back to GW1.

Just because you don’t see the pages of private conversation I have with EA staff or haven’t gamed with me to know my intentions... that doesn’t mean you should jump to negative conclusions about me.

EDIT: 😊

My first time posting here, i wish it was not a negative note but i feel like most people here.

It is really not realistic anymore for me who can only play two hours a day to finish the prizemap.

I am a huge fan of the Garden Warfare games, both the games i completed with loads of fun on two accounts but i'm seriously thinking of quitting this game an getting back to PvZ GW2.

I don't feel any loyalty from the developers regarding the true fan base while playing this game, especialy when you make it impossible to earn enough prizebulbs with ordinary play.

I'm not gonna grind in Giddy Park to bulbs, i don't like killing in Giddy Park its boring.

Please developers do something to fix this because if things stay like this  i don't think i will be around anymore in Neighborville for long.

  • PvZ is the only multiplayer game I play. I have no idea how many hours I have in GW1, because I played for YEARS on the 360. Across 2 maxed profiles I have nearly 4000 hours in GW2, which should show how much I love the series! I want this to succeed but I fear for it. The xp / prize map is the latest downer. For me, they took a huge risk in moving away from the GW format & variants, as whatever people's opinion about how balanced it was, it was something that appealed to & worked for us all. It was perhaps understandable moving on, but because that move alienated a huge section of the PvZ community, they needed to release a BFN that was pretty much perfect. That hasn't happened sadly & I'm sure everyone's working their socks off to try & improve things, but the game really does need help desperately quickly.

    Edited spelling!

Shaun Laker replied to one of the Reddit threads that they're looking at making the bulb economy better. He didn't say exactly how but he did admit that changes are needed.

@ToastedSarnieYeah this is what is strange about this entire situation to me. I remember a while back they were talking about how the GW games had some very high retention times. I figured they saw this and finally realized how much potential the series had and were going to dump a ton of resources into it. Already, they seem to have been trying to advertise the heck out of it. And BfN seems to have a lot of attempts that try and increase that GW retention time (which uhh fail for reasons highlighted in this thread).....But... then they changed everything.. released the game in a broken state... and seem to be taking their good ol time to fix it. No matter what happens, this isn't a GW game. They should not be expecting it to perform like one, or have the same retention times. I'm just afraid BFN won't do so hot and they will just think nobody wants anymore PVZ shooters. I just can't understand after all these years why they would decide to make the greatest shift in gameplay and style AFTER realizing how well and successful the original formulas worked. GW and GW 2 are some of my favorite games ever, but they were undoubtedly flawed. Poorly balanced and buggy, especially GW 2... They had the chance to finally fix those issues and perfect the formula and release a truly great game with GW 3 or something... but they didn't.. Will there ever even be another GW game? Is that even possible at this point, are the same teams still there, I would think not seeing how BfN is being handled so far.

Ah well, just a shame. I can't say I play BFN all that much anymore, and I'm starting to lose hope that it will ever be fixed. Even if it does fix all of its issues magically, I'm not so sure I would ever be able to play it or enjoy it as much as the GW games.

  • @brady3176 Know exactly what you mean! I'd love a GW3 one day & hope someone, somewhere is still considering it, regardless of how well BFN eventually does. The series has a truly unique place in the market - I've certainly not found anything else as fun, friendly & wacky that appeals to all age groups, that's competitive without being overly so. If anyone else has found a game remotely like it, please tell me about it!!

Considering the biggest backlash I can remember seeing on these forums (bulbs/xp gain rate), it would be nice if he took 30 seconds to tell this community, too.

    Frustrating.

Thank YOU, man, for taking the time to let us know we’re (at least) being heard.

I always told people to play GW1 prior to GW2 and GW2 up until BfN, and yes, I encourage people to play BfN now. Normally, I'm the first of my friend group bored with a game and looking to try something new but the GW games have held my attention for a long time, especially GW2 thanks to the private matches and quests. There's just so much to love! Where else can I plant Z4 to stop a tactical cuke, or fight against a zombie with a silly hat over a pirate ship, or claim a taco stand for Doctor Zomboss? For me, BfN has replaced GW2 even with the issues it has as I feel 'done' with GW2. Getting the final community stickers and the fact that the team has largely moved over to BfN has meant that while I still login to GW2, it's mostly just to remind myself of the 2k+ hours I put into that game and why I loved it so much.

I do love BfN too, but I worry about it with the issues we are dealing with. Both GW games had their own issues and still do (I logged into GW2 last night and again was a Sunflower in the zombie base), and GW2 had serious problems at launch, so I'm sure we can get past the problems, but the sooner we can move forward the better. The idea of getting brand new characters is far more exciting to me than trying to balance another toxic/electric/frost/etc. variant for the basic characters and the free roam areas are fantastic, so the potential for this game is massive. I haven't seen a single player playing as a boss which is great news. The lack of detonation characters and being frozen all the time by arctic troopers and frozen citrons is certainly a nice change as well.

I would love to see a design philosophy document for BfN and the reasons for the many changes they made. At least some of them appear to make the game more team focused, but I 'm very curious about the process and the rationale behind them. I am not attacking these changes, whether I 100% agree with them or not, but am very interested in the how, the why, and the plans for the future.

There's many ways they could fix the prize bulbs but one thing I do like about them is that getting XP once maxed level actually doing something is great. Barring when they added the Twilight Chomper, I hadn't had my XP in GW2 do anything for a very long time. The prize bulbs must be easier to get than they are now, but there are steps in the right direction in BfN, even with how great GW1 and 2 are. I stand by my earlier comments that the game should have been delayed a few more months and with much more open testing before being released to founders, much less the full release, but I'm going to break with my normal pessimism (not only is that glass half empty, whatever is in there is probably toxic), and keep playing BfN and encouraging others to do so, as I'm really having fun in spite of the problems, once the problems have been fixed and we get other improvements, it's going to be amazing.
