  • Been playing this on Switch and encountering odd behavior including this.

    - I'll be mid game during a private Ops mission and The Software Closed Due to a Problem" message comes up from time to time.

    - I'll press + and then Respawn while in Giddy Park and it'll work most of the time. from time to time however, it will not load the sprite outfits for characters and when selecting one regardless, can't ,move and all specials are black circles.

    - Daily missions populate randomly and usually with them either mostly completed (Example: "Vanquish Heros with Kernel Corn 14/15" after not using the character for days).

    - Character missions will tell me I have between 1-4 keys available and will play the unlock animation but not actually unlock the missions until I ACTUALLY have the key (usually a week or so later)

    - Inviting/Joining friends to team up for online modes resulting in messages about losing connection with group but unable to retry without restarting the console.

So to put it lightly, features that require internet access can be affected by intermittent network connections, putting console to sleep, changing networks, etc. There are other factors too however and to ensure that all is good on the players side, here are a few things that may address stability issues.

    1) Close the software and from the Home menu, select System Settings>Data Management>Manage Software>Affected game(s) (PvZ:BfN)>Check for corrupt data

You can do this for any game on the Nintendo Switch. This will check to see if the game needs to be reinstalled or if it is properly installed with all correct data. If corrupt data is detected, you can redownload after the check to address installation issues

    2) Check network connection

When you launch BfN on Switch, it will ask if you wish to play online or offline. Offline play can be more stable and avoid disconnect messages and unexpected errors. If the network connection is far away, dropping packets, slower connection type, or has a NAT type of C or D in the network test on your console, adjustments to the home network might be needed. When possible, play docked with an ethernet connection for a more reliable connection.

    3) Move the game data to the internal system memory Any downloaded game will run fastest from internal storage medium and is more stable loading from here. Loading from SD card is fast as well as long as the micro SD card is rated for fast transfer speeds and isn't corrupted. After years of use, I have had to replace some micro SD cards because most games loaded had to be reinstalled due to corrupt data multiple times. Better after replacing with a 1TB Nintendo branded SD card but internal is still best. From the home menu, navigate to System Settings>Data Management>Move Data Between System / microSD Card>Move to System Memory and if the game is listed as stored on the SD card, move it to the system memory. The other method would be to archive the game, power down the console, remove SD card, reinstall the game from eShop by trying to launch game from the Home Screen.

Hopefully these steps help provide a more robust time playing with less unexpected errors during gameplay.
