Close any overlay programs (FRAPs, RiviaTuner, Teamspeak overlay) These conflict with Origin in Game and usually will result in terrible frame rates.
I did what you said and I also went and manually changed my desktop resolution to match my game resolution. I should have done your step first and tried and then do my second step and see what happens. I have a feeling that the game decides to when you choose borderless to go back up the native desktop resolution rather than stay at the resolution you selected, hence losing the ability to change resolution when you select borderless. This by the way is a stupid stupid move. I don't understand why the game doesn't change down the desktop resolution for the game and then when you exit do it again. I'll run the game borderless at my full desktop resolution of 3200x1800 and if it's laggy then I think that will settle that the issue is that the card can't drive the game at that size. Which again EA are you listening, have the game change down the desktop resolution instead of offering me a letter box game that looks like an iPhone app on an iPad running at 1x.
