Hey, everyone
The team reached out to me on multiple issues I have sent over to them and wanted to get some updated info from you to pass along to them. If you can please post me the following info so i can send it over to them!
- Steam user ID:
- Gather System info Steam
- GPU model and driver version:
- Region:
- Are you using an internal or external drive?
- Are you using an HDD or SSD?
- Any other errors?
- If possible, share a Screenshot or Clip:
Man, sucks that I can't play my favorite game anymore because of the anti-cheat system that hasn't done much to actually prevent cheating as there's still a bunch of cheaters....
- @EA_Shepard do you still need this information or has this been resolved?
Please tell us if it's still possible for us to help you fix this issue! Us - the Steam Deck/Linux gaming community - would love to help fixing some of these issues which have been causing you to lose customers. I am also experiencing this issue currently and am considering a refund.
As for some more technical information, I believe that the issue lies with the anti-cheat implementation. Because EA Anti-Cheat only works on Windows, so does GWII. The problem is, EAAC isn't even foolproof, people are still able to bypass it. All that the addition of the anti-cheat has done is lock out a considerable portion of the player base, which is now unable to enjoy the game.

Currently nothing has changed as far as Steam Deck is concerned. There are no resources to apply to this issue because it technically still is not supported. The game wasn't meant to run on that platform, and because of that, it will be considered a non-supported platform for this title.
Please, I recently acquired a steam deck, plants vs zombies garden warfare 2 was my favorite game, and having it on the steam deck was crazy, please I would recommend that you implement support for steam deck/linux, many people did not like it That is, they would gain a large number of players if they put support for steam deck/linux back in since many people are buying a steam deck, they would gain an important audience by adding support for steam deck/linux
Will there be anything steam deck players can do or are we outta luck till ea changes it(never gonna happen)
Idk how EA AC works but why not find a way with using proton? A lot of games that wasn’t compatible with Linux worked that way (or Wine). Battlefront 2 (2017) worked just fine with proton, halo mcc used Easy AC and helped a lot for us, and a bunch of other games worked.
also since your guys Anti cheat isn’t supported to Linux then you guys would lose a good chunk of the player base. Also private servers to help unlock achievements that’s no longer available in normal means but also would destroy the modding community which again will decrease the player community on it. Like I get on to stop the banning exploit on people but still didn’t feel like a good way to execute it.
