Re: Super Brains

Well, the super brains do seem a tad OP sometimes, they have alot of health, a one-shot kill long range skill, a gap closer and a close up attack skill that mitigates damage  and deals a lot of damage.  And electro brains and toxic brain has got a good accurate long range attack.

So, it's understandable that some people think he's a little OP.

Maybe he's just easier to use than others. All I know is when I'm on the Zombies, I do well with him, and anyone else, I suck. If I can consistently get a positive K/D ratio with a character, something may be wrong....

He's like Kernel Corn imo, they both have great abilities and attacks. Very well rounded.

Once you get w/in melee range, the avg player freaks out because they don't don't how to deal with him...plus being a 3rd person shooter, the camera gets all crazy when any player with 1/2 a super brainz rope a dopes you.

I suck with Chomper, I'm much better w/ Super Brainz.

I can't wait to get the last stickers for the next variant.

ToddJones, or, maybe, just maybe, your play style and that particular character line up well together. I've seen people advocating to make Citron a "Vanquish Machine" because they don't think the character should be just a tank, because they want to kill everything, and basically, he ends up sucking as Citron because of the way he plays. That's a case of a person not being compatible with the toon they've chose.

I do better with Brainz than I do the Soldier, Deadbeard, All Star and such, basically because I love charging teams, and that's what Brainz is good at. I do better with Chomper than any plant, because I love diving the enemy to get a kill (and aim for ones in the back for a better chance to escape). It's about play style compatibility.

  • Yes because Chomper requires skill to stay alive and has no range damage.

    (Except Yeti and Chomp Cannon)

Brains can get everywhere almost, and can easily escape.

I guess what I was thinking is rather than tune down his close range effectiveness, would be to take away his ranged attack, like chomper.

Characters from the plant size and zombie side (Example peashooter and Zombie soldier) Don't have to be exactly the same way. That would just be boring. I think people just want super brainz to be exact as chomper just because they are suppose to compare to each other. Each character has its ups and downs.

Chomper's goop is ranged, is much easier to land than the Super Ball, is instant, and has a much reduced cool down timer.

As to Super Brainz ring, I don't use it, and think even those using the slightly OP version (Electro's ring) are foolish. He's not ranged, using that just allows ranged toons to see where you are, and out dps you at range.

As someone who mastered all super brainz (except Poison, don't have him yet), I can say the character is strong but not op.

As mentioned here before, most of the players tend to freak out if he is in close range. He shines at close combat, so you have to get range between you and any super brainz.

Natural counters are rose and chomper. A good chomper allways wins in an 1 on 1 against a super brainz. Same for every rose. The problem is a lot of people don't know how to play right against the super brainz. Countless roses stunned me with slow field (which is good!) but then they use arcane enigma and try to kill me in close combat. That's about the worst thing you can do against super brainz. Same goes for all the poison and fire chompers who try to fry me =D As chomper you just have to use goop and enjoy the meal. or dig down, so super brainz has to use his jump + skills to stay longer in the air. After that he only has his whirlwind left, which can be stopped by goop. Also corn and pae shooter can easily escape a whirlwind, but again most of the players try to outdamage a super brainz in close combat, which simply won't work. The only classes which don't really stand a chance against super brainz (once he get's near you) are cactus and sunflower.

After the patch, the meta seems to be about right. There are still some characters left who may need a little tweeking (I'm looking at you scientists =D) but super brainz isn't one of them. Also as mentioned here earlier: Never use the laser (ok maybe if you are the electro brainz, but never otherwise =D).

I agree with all of this (I've mastered several Brainz as well), I'll also add in, when I start fighting a group, a Citron who is on it with his EM, is also basically a "Hey look, free Brainz kill!".

I agree mostly with Drommanus except for the fact that electro brains electric beam needs a very slight adjustment, nothing crazy, just enough I shouldn't be able to melt a sunflower in half a second that's standing 10 ft away from the citron I targeted
