@spIash_damage I agree with you...
I always ask this question when people talk about character ABC being too weak... "Are we really playing the same game?!"
Because in most cases, those "weak" characters that need "buffs" actually have those "buffs" in their upgrades. Chomper and Rose come into mind.
Fully upgraded heroes play differently than non-upgraded heroes. A non-upgraded Deadbeard barrel is fine, for example... you can always escape it if you have your ears peeled. But an upgraded barrel... Good luck escaping that! It goes as fast as sprinting speed. The only way to avoid it is by either using an upgraded Nightcap or Rose or Chomper (burrow then swallow).
Space Stations, for example, I see many topics about how they're OP... But in reality; I took down many fully crew-ed Space Stations with different characters just fine. But that's because some of those characters are maxed and the upgrades benefit hugely. You have to keep load-outs for certain situations just in case you needed them.
But hey, I'd say most folks don't even have all upgrades equipped because they have Leveling Up Upgrade equipped and it takes 3 slots space. The other day, I played against a Master Peashooter who had no upgrades equipped!! I forgot if I took a screenshot or not (I'd need to blur their names if I wanted to post that)... But that was really strange...
If you're playing in a lobby with people having different levels, then your perception of weak/strong/unbalanced might vary from a lobby to another. Not all people use the same exact load-outs. And not all people have the same skill either. Even if you didn't do well as Cactus, there are games where cactus players just dominate everyone having 30+ vanquishes and being top performers. "Should we really buff ABC because you didn't do well as them?" is a question I ask myself every time I see "buff ABC". And that's exactly where "metrics" and "data-collection" play a role in balancing heroes. Unfortunately, we don't have public data on pick-rate, win-rates, accuracy...etc. If we had those, then players would understand that performing better can be possible, and it's just them who need to "Git gud".
I DO AGREE that certain things need balancing. But at the same time, you have to play around every threat in order for you to survive and win instead of just blaming balance all the time. There are many possible combinations and solutions to many problems. It is easy to escape the game and post about your frustrations, but it takes an effort to come up with a plan to outtake your nemesis.
The most irking thing to me is this game's unbalanced matchmaking. I dislike blaming my teammates who might probably be just kids, started playing the game and got match made against elites who play the game 4 hours a day. <-- That is my source of frustration with this game.. more than unbalanced heroes... Because a good smart Chomper/Peashooter/Cactus, for example, can take down annoying Super Brainz easily and ruin their day... <-- I'm not saying let's keep Super Brainz the way he is, I'm just saying that they're vanquish-able and good teams can take them down before they annihilate your team
* I apologize in advance if some didn't like my post. I just wanted to express my feelings towards the buff/nerf/balance situation as someone who has experienced different game titles and played many matches in BFN. There is no negative energy flowing through me when I wrote all that. I hope your mind isn't playing tricks on you and you thought otherwise!
