Re: Why does the Phenomenal character pack now cost 120000 coins?

I took a look on my daughter's account, which has few character variants. She is being offered the two Character Showcase packs for 150K, and a Phenomenal Plant pack for 120K.

So yes, the pack's presence is dependent on what characters you've already unlocked. As I have all non-legendary plants, the new pack is not being offered to me this week.

This represents a bit more discernment on the part of the sticker shop. Previously, I would be offered the 150K Showcase packs regardless of whether or not I already had the character. Now, it's only offering me the Archeologist, which I don't have.

Its good the packs can tell what you need and dont need. My concern is the jacking up of the phenomenal pack price. Seems unwarrented and off putting. I would just like an explanation for the price hike. Otherwise I say just save your coins till it goes back to regular price after the holiday. Thanks.

if this is a permanant thing its obvious they are jacking up the price and making it limited time to make you buy coins to unlock characters faster theres no other explination for it other then to a make the game longer and 2 make you more tempted to buy coins so glad i got this game for free its even worth less then 60 bucks then it was before

I completely agree. But I suspect the reasoning behind the price difference is that you know whether you will get a plant or zombie character.

Its very unfortunate if that is the case. As we all know 5 and 7 years olds do not have the patience to wait and acquire 120k in coins (nor do some adults).

Popcap's communication on these packs isn't ideal. Here is the direct quote from the front page:

"These special Phenomenal Packs are excellent value, containing a random character from all respective plant/zombie variants for only 120,000 coins."

Note that it says all variants. But it's not all variants. I have all characters, including Hover-Goat 3000 and Torchwood, except for the party variants. But the pack doesn't show in my sticker shop. So if it doesn't include party variants, what does it it include, and why the price difference?

I read on reddit today that this new character pack gives one variant each of ALL the character classes. If this is true, it's actually a fantastic deal.

I haven't been able to confirm this yet, but once I rack up 120K on my daughter's account, I'll let you know.
