I agree that Rux could be the exclusive seller of Legendary items and cosmetics while a lot of the other stuff in there could be sold through the Reward-O-Tron.
There's no way that I'll ever be spending Rainbow Stars on a text expression or an emoji when they're doled out so stingily that I'll likely have quit the game and moved onto something else long before I've managed to buy the Legendary and Super Rare costumes which I would actually want.
Truth is I don't even look at Rux's shop any more- I'm still hundreds of Stars away from being able to buy something which I'd actually want so he may as well be just showing up once a month instead of being open 24/7.
But the Reward-O-Tron was clearly intended to be a finite resource and there was clearly no plan to ever actually restock it since absolutely everything going forward was being rolled into their "Buy Rainbow Stars" monetization plan.

@realitysquared Man if that thing about the Reward-o-Tron really is true then I can without hesitance say the devs are absolute scumbags. But to be honest, with all the monetization/communication problems by this point, that's not very surprising.
- @DrPiccoloPhD I do believe that the Reward-O-Tron was intended to be a set number of capsules with no future restock.
I came to this conclusion because Rux is now selling content in his store for Rainbow Stars which is identical in nature to the content within the Reward-O-Tron capsules.
It’s also clear that they need costume pieces, accessories, and themed text, emojis and so on to populate the next 8 Festivals until they can repeat Lawn of Doom so that’s a fair bit of content held back in addition to the stuff showing exclusively at Rux’s shop.
We also have had several players who managed to empty their Reward-O-Tron very early in the games lifespan (I’m still working on mine) and since then we’ve had at least two new festivals roll through Neighborville which would have been a good opportunity to trickle out new content to be bought there with coins but it has remained empty. So considering that a player investing an hour or two a day in the game, which we can assume to be average, will take months to empty it I fully expect that they stocked it with a specific number of capsules to ride out a specific amount of time without being concerned at the outlying small percentage of players who would grind the game obsessively enough to empty the machine in the first month or two.@realitysquared Yeah, I've noticed 90% of Rux's inventory isn't worth jack, the solution of putting some of it in the reward o tron has been a hope for many for a while but obviously since that's something the community wants, the devs are not going to do that. As a founder who's reward o tron emptied last month, it's with a heavy heart for another cycle to go by and see another problem not even bothered being addressed in favor of an unfair, unrewarding, heavily monetized system instigated by clowns who call themselves developers.
@realitysquaredYeah, PopCap must have known that there wouldn't be added anymore items to the machine but I still wonder why they chose such a strange strategy.
If BfN is meant to be a game with a long lifespan the Reward-O-Tron with its few cosmetics feels just off.Edit: All new classes will lack cosmetics once there are released. It seems to be too less if the player only gets them at Rux or the Prize Maps.
Yep, I agree with most of what has been said and it all seems very odd... and I also fully understand the frustrations we ALL feel about the way things have been handled.
However, in my humble opinion, while we have every right to express our opinions, I find it a unnecessary, rude and unhelpful to call the developers names or talk about them in a very derogatory manner. We are trying to build a relationship with these people who have lives, feeling and passions just like us and to express ourselves with the vitriol I sometimes see in this forum these days is disrespectful and possibly even damaging to an already slightly fraught relationship.
We have absolutely no idea what restraints the Devs are under, or what forces and management decisions they have to abide by, deals that have been made etc. that are totally out of the control of the Devs themselves.
And just to clarify... I have not tagged anyone or singled anyone out as this is something I see more and more of in the forum from a number of people and my game is not to call anyone out but more to ask or suggest that we treat everybody with the respect that we would like ourselves.... and that includes the Devs.
This is my own opinion and I realise it may be unpopular but there you go 🙂❤️
