Sasquatch Boss Tips?

I have somehow missed this Boss event in the past, so do you guys have any advice before I play the Sasquatch Boss game? A character class that is good, an area that I might need to get to quickly, tips, etc? Also does this give me a Peashooter hat? Thanks!

  • I beat crazy with an army of 4 sun flowers.

    My tips:

    0. Play with your friends to avoid frustration and use mic to communicate/coordinate.

    1. Team combination: Recommended at least 2 sun flower to keep group healthy. Pair them with other players.

    2. Potted plant: Best one is goop pot (the green one) on all 3 pots. As soon squash come out, it will get goop and freezed. Bring big gun during this precious moment (sun beam, pea gattling, husk hop, etc)

    3. After it lost 25% of health, it will dig and you need to destroy healing burger.

    4. Best place is stay put on top. You can reach all of them from here. Split one group to left and one group to right (pair them with sun flower).

    5. Then you get icon on your head and need to go one of 3 posts to raise the tomb (similiar to suborbination). There're all star that will try to bounce you out. Kill that all star first.

    6. Put the goop pot on the nearby area so when squash come out, it will get goop again so you can quickly bring out the big gun.

    7. If you do all them as I said, cycle repeat 4 times and you will beat the squash easily.

    Good luck.

  • For the regular level of Boss Hunt you'll find that the Vampire Sunflower is pretty much unstoppable providing that you don't let yourself get mobbed; you can easily take on the Normal Sasquatch by yourself and as long as you are shooting him he'll be unable to do enough damage to overcome your self-healing ability. On higher difficulty levels you'll need more caution since the you'll take elevated damage.

The biggest thing is to remember that your character can't catch fire if you are receiving Healing from any source. This means that every team should have at least one Sunflower who can quickly hit burning teammates with a Heal Beam to extinguish them when the Sasquatch sets them on fire. If you have the Rainbow Heal Flower it's ideal for this Boss Hunt, and most Boss Hunts generally speaking, because of the constant flow of Healing Drops.

If you can keep the extra damage from being set on fire at bay you'll have a pretty easy run of things as long as you can avoid being mobbed.

I just managed to do Hard and Crazy back to back with the same team. I figure I'll share my experience in case it helps.

The team consisted of two vampire sunflowers, one rock peashooter and a standard citron. I was one of the Vampire flowers and my brother was the citron. I can't speak for the other two but I know me and my brother are maxed rank for our picks. My setting consisted of Max HP, Vampire Heal Boost and Speed boost. Not sure what my brothers were. (My bet is DMG Boost, Slow Overheat and Speed, assuming citron has all of those.) Outside the limited communication between my brother and I there was no communication among the team, more on that later.

The first phase of the boss was the same in both modes and surprisingly smooth. A few tips which I think helped us out.

    • Planting Goop shrooms is very beneficial. Not only does it goop enemies and the boss when it appears but it also distracts the small enemies from directly attacking the taco in the first phase. Any extra time between the spawn point and the taco taking damage is useful.
    • It is possible for most, if not all, classes to stand on the sarcophagus (the mummy coffin). This prevents attacks from most of the basic enemies, which can include those bothersome Imps. But, depending where you stand the Imps can get you (and therefore knock you off) so be careful.
    • For the first phase try to have the sunflowers pair up with one of the dmg dealers. This works less later on but, as long as the sunflower leaves the heal beam on the damage class and continues to attack themselves, both characters should stay perfectly healthy even on Crazy.

Now the Boss appears. Things start getting more hectic. This next part is likely to repeat tips from other people but, I found the following helped my group out a lot.

    • Once the boss spawns stay as a group until he burrows. That means all four plants. That doesn't mean stand shoulder to shoulder taking damage but, the healers should be close enough behind the damage dealers to keep them healthy. (And don't forget flower pots.)
    • Healers should focus one moving the heal beam from person to person putting out fires. This is where most of the damage is dealt. With two flowers healing the damage dealers and each other, fire damage is severely reduced.
    • Additionally, flowers should focus one keeping the amount of basic enemies down. This is also a great way to keep healthy as a vampire flower. Obviously if there aren't any basic enemies around you can help damage the boss. But, stay aware of your surroundings and don't let large groups of enemies sneak up on you, on harder modes this could end your run very fast.
    • As a flower be very careful about when you use the sunbeam. Healing is a priority and your allies are perfectly capable of defeating the boss by themselves. (That is corn, citron, peas and torchwood. I've never had a good experience with rose, chomper or cactus.) Personally, I only use the sunbeam during the burger phase and only in an emergency. It is just too risky. Don't get me wrong, it is possible, but the chance of failure is a bit too high for me.
    • Some tips for the citron courtesy of my brother. You are the tank (which should go without saying) you want to make sure you are in front of all the other plants. Shield is your best friend, don't let the fact it disappears almost instantly prevent you from using it. Also EMPeach is super valuable for incoming basic enemies while the sunflowers pick them off. Lastly, even with two attentive sunflowers there is a very high chance you will die (maybe even a lot). Don't lose your cool. Remember, when a sunflower revives it brings you back at full health. (That's like healing 200 HP in just a few seconds.)
    • Finally, for all classes, don't rush the damage phase. There is plenty of time to defeat the boss. It is much better to play smart than to rush in and get vanquished. We cleared Crazy with 10 minutes to spare, and we were taking our time on these phases. This also considers that most of the damage was dealt by just two characters while the other two focused on healing. The key is making sure you get the burgers dealt with correctly the first time. Speaking of...

Welcome to the part were the boss gets even. Dealing with the burgers and aftermath is easily the most stressful part of the hunt. Assuming you stayed alive to get to this point, this step is the most critical part of success.

    • All burgers can be hit by some angle from the starting area. There are also limited places where enemies can attack you from. For sunflowers and slower classes like corn and torchwood, handle the burgers from the top area.
    • Citron and Peashooters can run towards burgers using movement speed abilities. Take caution though as the sunflowers won't be able to keep up, you are on your own.
    • As for citron specifically, the basic version is capable of destroying a burger without overheating. This is why my brother picked the basic version over toxic, ice, party or electric.
    • With the above in mind it seems best to divide the team into two during this phase, with one team covering the front of the map and the other taking the back (the Citrons and Peashooters should run to the back). This is opposed to left side and right side. The players on the front area should easily be able to reach the five burgers that spawn on pillars and by the taco. Meanwhile the five in the back are tightly grouped together. This leaves the two on the far edges which can be hit by either group. What you don't want to do is hang out in the ditch between the two halves. It is easy to be surrounded and it is hard to safely revive from that location.

Once the burgers are down there is one last challenge. Get to the garden and get it raised before the inferno. This was the only major time me and my brother communicated. (Other than the occasional, I'm dieing or I'm dead.) Especially with the first time this phase happens we split up and called out as soon as we found the garden, that way we could gather together. This gets much easier after each burger phase since each garden is only used once. (So there are less options to pick from.) As a flower you want to drop your pot and start healing. After that everyone's biggest priority is finding and dealing with the incoming tacklestars. As long as they don't push people out of the circle there should be no trouble raising and staying in the garden. (I am assuming all players know they need to reach the garden.)

From here it just repeats. In total there are three burger phases and four damage phases. The best part is, once you complete the third burger phase and survive the inferno, there is nothing to stop you outside a team knock out. (But, you made it that far right, stay patient and focused and there is nothing to worry about.)

    • A final tip, it is beneficial to memorize all 3 garden locations and all 12 burger locations. If you are good you can even predict where burgers will appear before they do, simply through the process of elimination. (It helps that both sides of the map are symmetrical.)

Overall, like with the Gnome brothers I really like hard and crazy. (As long as I have a good team.) And that seems to be the key. Boss fights are fun and fair as long as everyone knows what they are doing. But, quite often people don't understand the mechanics or how to handle the class they are playing in a team battle. Don't get me wrong, it may be smooth as butter with the right team but it took over a dozen random groups to find those other two people. All I'm saying is savior those rare groups that can handle hard and crazy, they are a lot of fun when they happen.
