The problem is not the scientist but an incompetent team. There are plenty of ways to deal with a scientist. Learn them.
If you are one-on-one at close range with a scientist, you will likely lose. So, either take them down from a distance or group up with someone else. Goop them, EM them. Always take the scientist out first so healing can't happen.
