I see a fair number of players complaining that the Tennis Stars were pretty much "automatically winning" but in the numerous games where I participated the Chompers successfully defended a full 90% of the time.
The unlimited ammo and the knockback did primarily benefit the All Stars and the knockback actually hampered the ability of Chompthing to vanquish with his Spray attack but judging by the games I participated in those two Crazy Rules additions were the only reason the Tennis Stars had the half-a-chance to win that they had.
The knockback effect did interfere with the Chompers ability to Burrow, but that simply meant that you needed to think more tactically, approach under cover or concealment and trigger your Burrow only when you were unnoticed or out of the line of fire; the simplistic tactic of using the Burrow to save yourself from being shot or to just charge your enemy then Burrow when you get close enough were obviously both neutralized by the Knockback effect so it was necessary to concentrate more on staying under cover, flanking, or coming around from the rear.
Don't misunderstand me; I fully realize that from a viewpoint of just counting Vanquishes the Chompers had no chance to compete but from the standpoint of successfully Defending they were more than capable even with the obvious advantages given to the Tennis Stars. This was a game where, as a Chomper, you had to concentrate on playing the objective and not so much on personal glory.
