So Far, What Are Your Top 3 Played Plants/Zombies? And What Are Your Least 3?

For those who don't know how to check it out. Press ESC/Start/Options Button (depending on your platform), go to Cool Stats tab, then check Plants Stats and Zombies Stats from there.

As for me...

Top 3 Plants:

  1. Rose (Believe it or not, I think she's an underrated hero that has more benefits than what you might think. Especially in Turf Takeover. She can melt down big/annoying targets while denying enemies their abilities and disorienting them by displacing them. She can be an immortal hero that slips death very often. Her Arcane Enigma is essential in most Turf Takeover last objectives. While also being a tool to move your allies faster to objectives. Rose is a "tactician" that can control the flow of games without having to be at the front. Using Jinx wisely, by targeting the good enemy players, can change the outcome of games significantly. Her "Timesnare" upgrade is almost a death sentence, even in 1v1 situations, she can cleverly punish other players.)
  2. Sunflower (Many believe that she is "weak" but I believe I might have a the highest win-rate as her. Sadly, this cannot be seen in the stats. But her healing is very strong and she can act to be 2 sunflowers with her Blossom upgrade that gives her double healing beam. Her effectiveness and greatness appears in others more than being in herself. She is, just like Rose, a tactician that can "play" with the battlefield while sneaking in the shadows. You can, if you see dominating Super Brainz for example, deny enemies OHKOs by using Cocoon upgrade and further overhealing your teammates. This plays a huge role in the battlefield. Her upgrades, when used wisely, can make her a strong powerful pick. This is team-based shooter and personal vanquishes only aren't the key to Victory.)
  3. Cactus (She is probably the best hero if you can actually aim well. While also being a noob-friendly in general. Her abilities are really powerful and you can't go wrong with the potato mines, especially when placing them above summonable spots while watching others fall for it while laughing back at the map. The drone makes her punish un-noticing heroes while also distracting enemies from looking at ground.)

Least 3 Plants: (#1 is the bottom most, least played)

  1. Night Cap (Just like Rose in GW2 when she first got released. I haven't touched her due to balancing issues. I didn't want to be "that person" who ruins it for others. I want to play her when she gets balanced to prove that I can actually be a good Night Cap without any cheese.)
  2. Chomper (Chomper is probably the least played Plants hero in all the PvZGW series for me. I do think that playing chomper involves "cheese" as you can swallow anyone without having a fair 1v1. Yes, you might die in the process if you weren't careful, but you can ruin it for others. And that's just not me. And I do know that it requires skill to be a good Chomper, I won't deny that. However, in BFN, there are maps/areas, such as Z-Tech Factory, that have no easy-to-access higher grounds to avoid him. Making him a more frustrating hero to deal with compared to GW1 or even GW2.)
  3. Kernel Corn (The problem with Kernel Corn is Cactus. As I said before, if you can aim very well, Cactus is your best buddy. Kernel Corn, while I think he is effective with his butter beacon, is underwhelming due to the fact that you have to play him mid-range without having enough fire power/survivability to outlive your opponents, who are usually Suepr Brainz and other sneaky heroes.)

Top 3 Zombies:

  1. Imp (This is a bit shocking to me, I disliked his abilities in general but I loved his sneakiness and how he can be "strategic" by taking down plants sitting at back. Making things fall apart for the plants without them paying much attention. His Mech's eject self-destruct was really fun to use, but the bugginess of his nature and inconsistencies would probably let other heroes dethrone him.)
  2. Electric Slide (She is amazing in a game filled with Acorns, Oaks, Nightcaps and other plants who love sticking to each other. She is overall good but she's a hero with long cool downs. Makes her a bit difficult to use mid-range without having to back off very often.)
  3. Space Cadet (In a game filled with Nightcaps and Oaks, Space Cadet, without her space station, is a blast. Her homing laser, especially with buffed head shot fire rate upgrade, punishes Fung Fu Players as it automatically locks onto them even while doing it, as well as shadow stepping Nightcaps. She's a merciless character when it comes to punishing plants trying to escape. Her other laser beam ability eats a huge pie of plants' HP, punishes big targets and rooted plants. The Space Station can devour and destroy contesting plants, but without others to support you, it can be a Kamikaze thing.)

Least 3 Zombies: (#1 is the bottom most, least played)

  1. Foot Soldier (I guess I was never a fan of the default variant of Foot Soldier in previous games. I preferred the sniping and crossbow ones in PvZGW1 more. In BFN, he struggles in a meta of Oaks/Nightcaps.)
  2. All-Star (He's always the target... everyone wants to kill the All-Star player. No matter what. Your shield won't help you. Nothing will... Except your teammates which you can't always rely on. In a game filled with Chompers, Oaks, Nightcaps... All-Star struggles to be effective. His abilities have their cool downs and you can't always escape everything with 1 sprint tackle, even though you're supposed to be at front, you just can't do your job contesting or doing anything without having to suffer, hence why people often switch to other heroes later on. I don't think his future buffs and nerfs of other heroes will fix most of that. But time will tell.)
  3. 80's Action Hero (Strange, I enjoy playing him while also having good stats. But I guess part of why I don't pick him often boils down to his popularity. I tend not to pick the same heroes as others, especially if there were too many of the same hero. I believe it leads to unhealthy team compositions. Otherwise, he is a super powerful amazing hero that is enjoyable to play. With, probably, the best looking hairstyles/physique.)

That is all factoring in that I tend to stop playing certain heroes after I level them up. So in the future, when I get everything leveled up, this might change. As for now, those are my top/lowest played heroes with my own personal reasonings.

What are yours? (you don't have to tell us why if you don't want to, but knowing why others pick certain heroes would be an interesting read.)

*P.S. I apologize if I offended anyone with my own personal take on certain heroes. But that's how I purely feel towards them. You are free to choose whatever you want as long as you play it fair and square with everyone else. I blame the system and rule giver, PopCap, for certain design choices rather than the players.

  • I haven't been playing multiplayer, I've loved the quests, but for that, here are my tops:

    Top Plants

1.Citron. His shield is fun to play around with. I'm not really enjoying him, but you asked for top played, not favs.

2.Acorn. His Oak mode is helpful to beat bosses and just really fun to play around with. Definitely my fav of the 3.

3.Peashooter. Kind of accidental, he is just the average boring plant, but he's really good so...

    Top Z-bies

    1.Engie. He Da Best!

2.80's Action. His charge up is helpful for those weeds and dandelions.

3.Super Brainz. His charge up, shield, and abilities are really great for countering Nightcap in Giddy

    Not so hot

1.Scientist. I was a big Scientist main in GW2, but I just ran out of touch with him.

2 Deadbeard. I liked Cactus, but Deadbeard I just didn't want to play

3.Snappy. He's really cool, but not really useful. I'll probably play him today though.

    Favs

I just decided to do my favorite out of the characters for plants and zombies.

    1. Engie! HE DA BEST!

    2. Chomper. As bad as everyone says he is, I've gotten use to him over the past GW games. Everybody else is kinda a newb. You just gotta play him right.

    3. Nightcap is fun to play. I just haven't been playing her

  •  Most of mine are pretty close except the ones I used in PvE.

     Top 3 Plants

    1) Acorn - Something about the little nut attracted me to him off the bat. I used him a whole bunch on both the PvE and my first PvP matches. I think he is really cute and I enjoy helping out Oaks here and there. I actually enjoy Acorn over the Oak, but I recognize how powerful Oak can be when I need it. His singing is also adorable!

    2) Snapdragon - Such a good boy! He's pretty cool and fun to use. I get some lag in his Q that has lead to some weird stuff. But overall I really like his character design even if he is stepping on Chomper's roots a bit with the design. I've gotten some cosmetics I like to use on him as well.

    3) Night Cap - I always wanted a playable mushroom character! I got super hyped at one being possibly added into PvZ2, so I'm really happy one found their way into this game! I didn't really expect it to be a female or for it be so hated (balance wise) off the bat though. I did kind of stick away from her some since streamers and the like were hating on her and her players. But, I been playing her some now since I know she is getting nerfed pretty hard soon. I'm a tad worried it'll drop her down to F tier as people seem to already be adapting to fighting her as she is now.

    Bottom 3 Plants

    1) Citron - He honestly rubbed me a bit wrong when I first played him here. I felt he felt more fluid and faster in PvZGW2, though I'm not sure how much that is actually true or just me remembering ball form as funner than it was. I do like his shield for reviving others though.

    2) Corn - He's cool, but he faces stiff competition as the Plant cast has a lot of fun characters. And he feels more basic.

    3) Rose - I'm kind of shocked she landed here, but I'm pretty sure she is right on the heels of the plants above her. Though I was underwhelmed by her Q when I first tried her.  I actually quite enjoy her in PvP and feel like me switching to her has helped turn the tides of battle. I think she will pass others pretty soon, though I feel she isn't the best for PvE stuff solo, which will always keep her lower than some others for me.

    Top 3 Zombies

    1) 80's Action Star - I LOVE his design!!! He has such a wacky run and has multiple silly jumps. His abilities are also pretty fun to use as well and pretty flashy. I'm not sure he is as strong as he should be though, but I really do love playing him. Since he is popular though, I will go other characters if there is already a bunch of him, at least I know he is loved.

    2) Imp - Being the little annoying pest the other team wants to stomp can be addicting. I also got the chameleon hat pretty early on which drew me to him over other choices.

    3) Electric Slide - Love her design as well! I like her abilities and keep finding new ways to use them to help aide the team. Her tornado can destroy Night Caps and Oak/Acorns and really help stall chokes. Then her Q has actually been pretty useful to send a Sunflower away from my target or to send battery carries back to my team. I won't be shocked if she passes Imp for 2nd place soon.

Note - Space Cadet is the only new character to not make it into my most played. While I like her overall, I do think she has the weakest visual/animation appeal. The others are just so good that she falls short for me.

     Bottom 3 Zombies

    1) Scientist - His healing feels a bit awkward and clunky for me, I'm getting use to it though. He is rather strong as an assassin but it feels weird playing the healer zombie that way.

    2) Super Brainz - He's going to go up the list, I just really kept over looking him. Now that my eyes are more on him, he is fun and cool. But I do think he is overpowered.

    3) Foot Soldier - Similar to Corn, he's just a little bit on the blander side in design for me. I prefer the wackier and creative cast members more.

I haven’t played all plants cause I’m not playing much + I’m mastering them one at a time.

    Top plants

    1) Nightcap, loved her in alpha and still in love now. Lolz your remark made me giggle cause alot of ppl go for the ‘if this was an fps she’d be the god gun’ way. While I can see that, she’s easily countered if you know what you do. I just like her overal speed and ninja-likeness.

    2) Sunflower. No actual reason why... she’s just so cheerfull. Especially the sergeant/commander sunflower. Is there an outfit like that?! I would want that one!

Next is Snapdragon (only played with chomper/pea besides these 3) cause he has a cool firebreath but he’s bugged as hell. Jumping and doing that aerial attack sometimes causes him not to actually go in the air or perform the whole movement but it still counts as used and sometimes blue blazes or firetrail doesn’t go at all but it still has a cooldown >.>

So only played with chomper and pea but I don’t count them really as last 3.

    Top zombies...

    1) SuperZombie©️ I like his up close and personalness

... only played a lil with footsoldier/Scientist other than SuperZombie©️ I think and didn’t like them at their base level
  • @GammaX6 It's an interesting Q & A post! Sad though it is to feel we have to do this, I don't want people to shout at me, so I'll start by saying any opinions expressed are based on my own personal experiences: on Xbox, in Europe, at the particular times I've played, in the particular lobbies I've been in & apologies if anyone dislikes anything! My most played on both sides includes one of the new characters because I wanted to push myself out of my comfort zone a bit!
    Zombies most played:
Engineer - I always felt sorry for him in the 1st game, getting wrecked at the teleporter or at the back twiddling his thumbs! I like how he feels to play but I'm glad I mastered him before 6 appeared in every lobby as I wouldn't want to use him in that situation
Imp - I've never liked using the mech much, it's always felt slightly unfair to me but cheeky little imp I've always liked, not least for the fun movement & laugh!
Electric Slide - She appeared to be the new one people were playing least & I wanted to know if there was a reason for that. I really like her
Least played - Super Brainz, Space Cadet, Foot Soldier
Soldier's there purely because I've used others a bit more for quests. Brainz I've always disliked because TO ME he's always felt like a bit of a bully & Space Cadet's there because I think it has the potential to be a bully
    Plants most played :
Sunflower - my favourite class because her strategic value is generally under-rated. She's the only mastered character I'm continuing to play in lobbies where she's needed
Night Cap - At first, of the new characters in my lobbies, most were choosing to play Snapdragon! I chose to work on NC because I thought her size & hp might make her trickier to use. I used her in pvp until everybody did, then used her mainly in town
Peashooter - an old favourite that I found particularly useful on solo quests
Least played - citron, cactus, chomper. Citron I've never been particularly fond of. Cactus I've always loved & felt the changes to her wouldn't make her hugely different to play so that could be ranked slowly whenever most useful in lobbies & hasn't to me felt like a good pick on quests. Chomper is fun to play but annoys people, so saving it for now
  • Top 3 Plants:

    1. Snapdragon - I wanted him as a playable character for so long, and they finally did it. Also he suits me perfectly well.

    2. Peashooter - He has decent damage and is fun to play imo.

    3. Acorn - I like him, but not as much as the other two, I enjoy playing with oak or on oaks.

    Least 3 Plants:

    1. Sunflower - She doesn't feel right anymore, i don't know why..

    2. Rose - Her homing shots feel really weird for me... thes seem to never hit.

    3. Citron - I like his abilities, but hhis primary feels so weak.

    Top 3 Zombies:

!. All Star - He's the cutest in the Zombies side. / Electric Slide - She is extremely fun to play and i really like her voice.

    2. Deadbeard - Sniping is kind of fun.

    Least 3 Zombies:

    1. Super Brainz - He doesn't feel right without the lazer.

    2. Imp - He doesn't really feel like he has any impact out of mech.

    3. Current Soldier - Should be obvious.

  • Top 3 plants:

Citron - I freaking love this guy, he's not only a good front liner but can be a decent backline flanker with Peached

Corn - I just love playing him even if he's garbage. I love Husk hop 1 shots and butter beacon is just so helpful

Chomper - Fun character if you don't mind being suicidal, can be super annoying to play against and I enjoy being annoying

    Least 3 played plants:

Sunflower - Not really that interested in the character simply because how it looks tbh

Rose - Been wanting to try her out, haven't gotten around to it tbh

Nightcap - Find the gameplay boring, too mindless

    Top 3 Zombies:

Engineer - Just super fun and semi broken. I loved the engineer class in TF2, so it's a given I'd play this. he's just like a fun combination of Engineer and Demoman from TF2.

Superbrains - Fun and honestly overpowered, 1 shotting Nightcaps is always fun.

Imp - I just love playing him even if he's not the greatest, it's just fun using black hole and mech even if the mech pops in 2 seconds when focused.

    Least 3 played Zombies:

Scientist - I think his healing sucks, at least on his e.... His e just feels terrible. That being said he does a ton of damage, I just wish his e wasn't awful.

All-Star - This guy is just so damn bad it hurts my soul. I want him to be good but even seeing the upcoming buffs to him I think he's still going to be bad simply because his shield is garbage.

80's Action Hero - Everyone was playing him so I stayed away from him, but he is fun and pretty damn good so I'll probably play him more

  • My answer won't be very good, cos I tend to find a character I like on each side, then try and get fairly decent with them before trying others, so I've only really played 2 characters for a reasonable amount of time.

    Plants - Sunflower

With the right perks equipped, the amount of healing that she can churn out is really high. I only get a handful of kills per game at the most, but then I'm not trying to get kills. It is frustrating that nobody really talks in the game, cos Sunflower's laser beam attack could be super powerful if a tank player put up a shield in front of me while I'm doing it, but that sort of thing never happens, so using it is usually a death sentence unfortunately. Her primary fire is weak, but I think it should be, cos she's not supposed to be a character you play offensively.

    Zombies - Captain Deadbeard

Given how hectic this game can be, with so many players on each side, I find him to be super strong. A fully charged shot with his primary weapon does a ton of damage. You can get to higher ground easily. The explosive barrel ability can be used both offensively and defensively, although the range is not great. The parrot's mobility is a bit limited, but then I think it needs to be given how strong the secondary fire is. The only thing I don't like is that close up, his primary fire when not aiming down sights feels like it does next to nothing.
