Steam release of PVZ:GW2 and Origin Overlay (linux)

I was excited to play PVZ:GW2 now that it had released on Steam but I have ran into an issue, one I havent had with Apex Legends (which I understand has been tweaked for linux)

From my understanding, Origin games that are purchased on Steam are also launched with its own config on origin, which means that even if i manage to get origin open, my settings for the client are overridden. This means that I cannot turn off the Origin Overlay, which causes the game to not start. I believe the game would function fine otherwise and would like to play, I understand that Linux users cant expect much support since its all very much "at our own risk" however I think that is the only thing preventing me from playing and not something I can work around.
