Sunflower Ability Change...

So I'd like to propose a change to one of the Sunflowers abilities. Currently we have the Dark Flower ability as an alternative to the Healing Pot. This little evil flower doesn't feel very useful at all, in just about any situation. She does little damage, with kind of ok range, but definitely not good enough to actually be that effective. It certainly isn't a good substitute for the Healing Pot Ability. In fact the Healing Pot will allow you to do more damage to enemies by staying alive longer and doing damage yourself, than to have no healing stars with the Dark Flower assisting.

I'd like to propose a real change. One that I think would actually entice players to want to play as the Sunflower a little more, and have her be a bit more substantial to her team without the Healing Pot. Her alternate ability to the Healing Pot should be a Bonk Choy! Yes, like the pic our own Community Manager, EA_Andy so graciously gave us. That picture made me think about the possibility of being able to thrown down this little devilish guy in order to protect the back lines of the plant team. I've played countless matches where scientists would constantly sabotage the back lines and completely wipe all of the support plants that usually hang back there. Roses, Sunflowers, and sometimes the Cactis (I don't see enough cactis' in games)... So you throw down this little guy, and when a scientist teleports in for multiple kills on a small group of unsuspecting plants. The Bonk Choy wallops the scientist, effectively stunning it long enough for us to actually react to his presence! Instead of it punching for a lot of damage I propose that it does small damage, but can inflict a stun to hit opponents. Very useful, and it doesn't really change the dynamic of the plant characters. It just gives them some much needed protection without these crazy ideas of giving plants shotguns or stupid stuff.  Bonk Choys reach should be just a little bit further than the zoologists auto shotgun reach. It takes time for a plant to react to the scientist, and to actual do enough damage to actually kill the target. So the stun should be like 2 seconds. A variant like the Computer scientist or the zoologist could kill you in a a second flat and the sunflower has no shot to do 100 damage in twice as much time. So the stun in my opinion is fair.

I really love this idea, and I think it could help solve a recurring theme I see in matches all too often. It can defend against a Super Brainz as well whose trying to go in for an easy turbo Twister kill. I want it to stun him out of Turbo Twister. Obviously not everyone would play as a sunflower, so the number of Bonk Choys would be limited, and obviously people would still run with healing pot for obvious reasons. But I feel this is a much better, and effective alternative to the Dark Flower, which really doesn't help us do anything special at all. Thoughts?

  •  Again, me using the Healing Pot ability is 10,000x more effective as a character than the dark flower simply because I can use it as a obstacle to run around and attempt to get the opposing player to shoot it instead of me

Well to me, that's exactly one of the benefits of the dark flower. If you have it hidden to one side of a path, and are stationed on the opposite side near some cover, any opponent has to contend with 2 targets now. Provided they can even tell where the dark flower is hidden. If that's the first thing they see, they will attack it, giving you a clear shot at them. And if they see you first, you can fire from cover, and the dark flower will be steadily be weakening them.

You can also position dark flower so that it hits zombies in the back as they pass it trying get to the base. They will either continue on towards the base and take steady damage, so they're easier to pick off, by the team, or they will turn around to see who's shooting at them and try to take out the flower, leaving the plant team the chance to attack.

Dark flower may not suite your play style, but it still can be used effectively.

  • I think it'd be a good idea to add the Bonk Choy as a third option of drop-able item for the Sunflower. Would be fun.

  • A plant pot that gives you a shield would be very helpful (just like the one in Star Wars Battlefront). Like make it a shoot through from inside while outside needs to break it or run inside. Should be a new ability to unlock like for the Chompers in this game.

Instead of a heal beam, why not something that does the complete opposite?

It drains the life of an opponent, whilst healing yourself, and reducing their damage whilst adding to your own. No idea on numbers, but it would make a close combat variant much more viable, without being op. When you link the beam the drain begins. If you or your opponent leave the range of the beam, the life drain stops, but the damage reduction/increase remains for a few seconds. No need for the suggested shotgun variant with that ability.

Or how about making the sunbeam vanquishes unrevivable? A small change like that would make quite a difference.
