Super bean super wave - a proud moment

I'm really only a mediocre to somewhat good player, but every now and then I can pull something off that I'm really proud of.  Last night, I was able to finish a super bean super boss wave on my own.

I was playing solo graveyard ops to level up a soldier, when the dreaded super bean wave was announced.  In a moment of clarity, I hot swapped to the mastered all star teammate that I had spawned.  We were favored by being outside in lunar landing - super bean seems most dangerous in enclosed areas.  In fact, I had recently had a solo ops match, using the indoor location in lunar landing, go belly up in a super bean super wave.

I had just finished off the first of the three beans, when I noticed the last of my teammates expiring for the last time.  Uh oh!  Out of previous experience, I almost quit, but then I thought why not give it a go, what do I have to lose?  It took great patience, a well-placed dr. heals, and much judicious use of tackle dummies, but I did it!  I've defeated some super boss waves on my own before, but never the dreaded super bean.

  • Super Bean Super Boss Waves are tough when doing Solo Ops so congratulations on successfully defeating it.

One tip for you for future reference; the AI Plants are completely blinded by the Zombie Stink Cloud. This means that if you have a Foot Soldier in your Zombie Team and that Foot Soldier throws down the Stink Cloud if you can keep it between you and the AI Boss or AI Plant Heroes, or if you stay within the Clouds itself, they won't fire at you and will ignore you in favor of other targets as long as you remain hidden by the Cloud.

The tactic is less effective against Super Bean due to his random teleportation but it can be a huge saving grace with Giga Torchwood Super Boss Waves or any time you're playing Ops as a Foot Soldier and are running low on Health with loads of AI Plant Heroes on the field.

I've done craaaazy ops once to get the achievement,  I did it solo as plants, and it went pretty smoothly.  Commando corn with the AIs being vampire and stuffy flowers and electro pea.  The 40K+ reward was nice.   But it's more pressure than is fun for me on the average day.  Boss hunts, same.  I'm a veteran of all of them, got the hats.  But I can't say I enjoy them all that much.  I just do them for the sense of achievement, and the hat to prove I did it.

Ironically, the one I had the most fun at (probably because the team was so good) was the Yeti King, which vexed so many.  But that was only that one round, working closely with a good friend. I was too tired to keep playing with that team on that night, and every other match I entered later in the event was with a team doomed to failure.

"a team doomed to failure" = that sinking feeling you get when you see the other three players are all under level 10 and that they have all spawned in as imps...

Had a level one peep the other day. Obviously did not read the "boss hunt is very difficult" bit. They tried, bless 'em. Hope it didn't put them off the game...
