Switching teams in the middle of the game?

Switching teams in the middle of a game has ruined the game! It is the worst thing I've ever come across in a multi player game.

It take a borderline bad match an just makes it worst. Imo

We can't stop people leaving the game, but we can stop people changing side once the game started. You've a few seconds before the game started to change side (assuming it's imbalance). If it's already balanced, you can't change side anymore.

    Here steps:

    1. Game started, server try to balance it as much as possible (already implemented).

    2. People can switch side to least player team before game start.

Server enforced that only one player can switch at time. They implement queuing so we can't have multiple players switch at same time . Once the team is balance, they can't switch anymore (NEW).

    3. Game started and you can't switch side anymore (NEW)

    4. If people leave the game, it will be in balance (can't do anything about this).

    5. New players join the game will go to least player team. Once they join, they stuck there until the round is finished (NEW)

    6. Server keeps adding new players and balances it naturally.

    What do you guys think?

  • I switch too. Would rather keep players in the game than play an uneven match. Most dont though as Pandorina

Heavily one-sided matches aren't even fun to play. Yes, I like winning but utterly thrashing the other team is boring and it can frustrate players, especially new ones, who may well just give up and in a game that is far more fun to play with other people than bots (I do play against bots a lot, but mostly to get quests done), we cannot allow people to give up just to get some victories. Also due to the game's rating and subject matter, a lot of young kids play and beating someone's 6 year old who really likes sunflowers 50-3 or what have you isn't something I want to be a part of.

Tighter matches are just more exciting. The 50-48 win is far more satisfying than that 50-2 stomp. The rainbow stars situation does indeed affect people's playing habits, much as it was posted earlier, but balanced matches should always be the focus, regardless of that situation.

  • Same here, @Iron_Guard8

@dwooten77 (only mentioned because he joins more than anyone on the forums) and anyone who joins my games knows that 90% of the time I'm playing on the bad side of an unfair server.  On very rare occasion, I'll stay on a stacked team, if it pays back someone that teams stacks regularly on the opposing team.

.......  I don't even stack teams with friends in-game who joined through my backyard.  If we get uneven teams, I switch and then try to avoid fragging my buddies, which adds further challenge/fun.

I do think @asukojo is on the right path.... anything could be implemented to help this problem and then tweaked until it works.

I say take out team swapping altogether and randomize the top scorers every game.  Always place inbound players on the team with the least players and go from there..

Come to think of it.  I believe split screen should be able to play on the same server regularly but nobody else (playing on half a screen is handicap enough).

I usually gage switching teams by whether I can find people to kill...if I can't then my team is stacked.

One last problem I run into is good players that follow me when I switch to help...then the team is unbalanced for the other side.  Also had people cuss me out because I switched to help the other team...another reason I emptied my friends list.

It’s funny how a lot of people don’t understand this.  I’ve emptied quite a few friends on my list for the same reason.  I don’t see how it’s fun just mopping the floor with the other team.  To each is own I guess.  Splash does a good job switching.  However there are times when certain players deserve to suffer a little and I’ll stay on a stack team as well.  It’s rare though.  What’s wrong buddy? Couldn’t switch teams fast enough?

  • As bad and fusterating as team swap can be, including joining in unfair ratio match. It does not matter if your does not know the meaning of 'team' and 'team work'. You can be 3 to 4 and win. If your teammates know how to stay together and help each other (like the classes were constructed for). Also meaning the other team don't understand this. Ratio don't mean anything for this reason. As far swap goes, yes most do it for the winning reward. I'm sure some do it because the other team don't know the meaning of team. As well they might get tired of carring the without much to no help. It does get annoying and can take the fun out of it. I have no opion on if future GW2 keeps it. I only wanted to my opion on why it is used. Thank for read it. 😁
