The big problems BFN is currently at

And for a good reason why.

BFN's tedious nature. That's what it is: Tedious nature. BFN is full of it. No matter what part of BFN you're in, all you can see is nothing but tediousness at every corner.

What you did with the upgrade "Leveling Up" has made the tedious level go up by ten-fold. I focus heavily on earning xp for my characters by using a guest player so I can level them up to the rank of master. But being restricted to Giddy Park and the very low reward from "Leveling Up" is making the process unacceptably tedious, and I cannot stand going through the pain.

And I certainly will not level up my characters to Grand Master because it's simply a waste of unnecessary work and time. The increase in level cap is NOT NEEDED. The original level cap of Master for all characters in BFN should be reinstated.

BUT...

I am willing to reconsider; it all depends on you [Popcap].

If you perform the following two changes [shown below] to BFN in the next update, you won't have to lose another loyal member of the PVZ family. The sooner it's implemented, the better.

Change 1: "Leveling Up" upgrade

Being restricted to just 10% more xp when equipped with the upgrade just doesn't seem right, when we really need to level up our characters quickly. It just makes the process of getting up to the rank of master very tedious.

For this, I'd like to see a change to the "Leveling Up" upgrade, where - instead of just two upgrade points for 10% extra xp, you expand upon it by making the xp increase smaller or larger, scalled by how many upgrade points we [the players] are prepared to spend to achieve it.

One upgrade point = 5% more xp

Two Upgrade points = 10% more xp

Three upgrade points = 25% more xp

Four upgrade points = 50% more xp

Five upgrade points = 100% (2x) more xp

Let's be honest, unless someone on the forums can think of a faster way to earn xp for any character, I have to rely on guest characters to help with earning xp.

Change 2: Solo/Private play on the multiplayer maps

In GW2, players had the freedom to select what multiplayer map they'd like to go in, selecting the team setup, the difficulty, and the type of game (Team Vanquish, Vanquish Confirmed, Turf Takeover etc.). It helped to vanquish as much boredom and tediousness with this feature. Currently, BFN does not have this feature.

For this, I seriously want for Solo/Private play to be implemented in BFN.

If all of this can be achieved, I might reconsider my opinion on the Grand Master rank, maybe even go on with continuing to promote my characters endless times.

the game is straight forward and simple. there is no tutorial in this game and people do fine. I don't really get what is "tedious" about ops and the pve story missions. ops is supposed to be highly replayable. It has many unique special waves and you fight different bosses everytime. The story missions are a good source of pve region currency and give a fair amount of xp for fighting bots. The BEST way to earn xp is through the multiplayer. As tedious as that sounds its true unfortuneatly. Fighting humans is much harder than fighting the game's ai, so of course online multiplayer is more rewarding. Earning xp is not supposed to be a cake walk. You have to work for it (like in pretty much any game with a levelling system). The xp machine is there because its literally the only thing to spend money on after the rewardotron. Earning money in this game isnt hard at all. I have earned 5 million coins so far purely from playing multiplayer (and I barely get to play this game during the week).I have nothing else to spend money on but the xp machine. how many shooter games with levelling systems are there that arent tedious really?

I suggest white tape on the screen where your level shows and writing in your desired level...since after 901 there is literally no incentive to rank up increasing level is simply to appease peoples ocd...even the 1000 rank plate is lame.

  • @chogath_player   ... just... no.

GW1 and 2 weren’t this tedious; they weren’t even close and the amount of grinding required to achieve awards (comparatively) is gross.  The daily challenges are more tedious as is leveling up (I leveled up many of my GW2 characters in less than 1 hour of solo play and it still took me two months to max rank).

... not to mention unobtainable items.

Seems there’s too many people willing to accept less than par for the course. 🤡

EDIT:  to clarify, I’m urging you to consider the grind relative to the PVZ series and I think you’ll understand the depth of how tedious BfN is comparitively.  I think you’re playing yourself for a fool, if you think the new shooter is better but I’m not trying to sound mean.

@spIash_damage lol nah I definitely like gw2 more. it somehow had more content. Gw2 did everything better. there isnt much in bfn at all you're not really missing out on much by not being higher level. im pretty sure levelling takes so long because the character roster is so miniscule. gw2 didnt feel like much of a grind because there were so many characters to play (who all levelled pretty quickly). maybe with the addition of new characters theyll tone down the grindyness of xp?

Well i guess Popcap could just sell XP DLC so people that don't want to play this game can actually just do that?

  • @Screion   *insert cute laughing emote*  hahaha a new marketing idea... it might well take off 😃

  • Nothing about the game seems tedious to me. The only thing I don't like is PVP, it's just no fun. All of the unlocks and leveling and promotions and coin earning do not affect the gameplay at all. It's just fun rewards that pop up sometimes. You don't need any of them to compete.

That is one of the interesting changes compared to GW. Now with a few exceptions nothing really messes with damage output or changes the impact of damage received.

Those damage and health upgrades are a common sight in GW and nowhere to be found here.

  • It's difficult to compare the BFN & GW upgrades - while there aren't the same kind of direct primary damage upgrades, there are plenty that make abilities stronger / more powerful & I think a lot of these are actually more damaging than a straight-forward damage increase upgrade.

The health upgrades don't exist in BFN because that's covered by the ability of the healers to add over-health.
