The game desperately needs to incentivize zombie play (for now)

...at least in the short term.

PvP* queue as a zombie is about 3 seconds.
PvP queue as a plant is roughly 500 times longer depending on the day/time. That's if you can get  a match at all.

One or both of the following options could be part of the solution:
1) Enhanced rewards for zombie victories. This could be flat, or it could be dynamic depending on demand.

2) Offer discounted zombie packs in the store. Once enough premium zombie cards hit collections, the game will balance.

Any of these (or other) measures are only intended to be temporary, until you can get enough 24/7 simultaneous users for it not to matter. But we're not there yet.
I cannot or will not recommend this game to anyone in its current state, but I want to so badly.

This is the risk of creating a match system that is faction-based. Without assigning blame for that, you now must fix the imbalance or the game will fail in its infancy.

* While this is a PvP issue, it's not just a PvP issue: Every Hero quest line requires 3 multiplayer victories and many of the daily/hourly quests require Hero wins, as well. Those quests are key to advancing out of the newbie phase of the game, and acquiring better cards through premium packs.

If we can't complete quests, we can't play the game.

Btw, I do play as a zombie if for no other reason than to help someone out.

But I need plant wins, too. I'm not F2P but I haven't spent much and BY FAR the majority of my good cards/combos (including commons and uncommons) are on the plant side.

I'd love to play a great zombie deck but I don't have one.

    Here are 2 more options:

    3) Separate ranking/leaderboards for Zombie and Plant...everyone MUST play both (permanent change/solution)

    4) Make employees play PVP as zombies

Here is a screenshot of a 17 minute wait. On a Sunday, mid day..l gave up!

For your first and second option. This would allow zombies to get better cards easier compared to plants and this would give them an advantage.

You can win most plant quests in adventure mode.

I haven't played as a pl;ant myself on my way from rank 5 to 22, it usually tells me there's a problem with my internet before finding a match.

I do think you're right that thy have to atract more players for zombies as well. But boosting the zombie side with extra packs and rewards would ruin it for the (few) plants.

Your third option might be good.

    Fourth, I don't think that's gona happen.

I think all they have to do is just increase the rate of Zombie quests, specially those ones that give 20 gems. Maybe create a few "special event ones" for the lawn of doom that focus more on zombie plays. I think if they make the quest generator lean towards zombie quest for about 60%-70% it will improve things.

I agree with increasing the odds and/or value of zombie quests.  A "win 3 multiplayer games with a zombie hero" rewarding 30 gems that recurs with some frequency until the player has done it 5 times, for example.

Of course, they clearly already knew this was a problem from the limited release and did nothing but put a one time message in that wait times were better as a zombie.  So they may have their heads stuck in the sand on this one.

I didn't see this problem occur in the limited release. Did it happen at the very start of the limited release? The wait times varied for both plants and zombies for me but I joined in a little later.
