10 years agoThe Imp Mech...
Is the single worst game design you guys made with Garden Warfare 2... The reason I say that is because it's radically different from any other mechanic that any other character class has. And you on...
A lot of people are quick to judge the Mech because of it's stature and health, but it's pretty much a death sentence against a team of plants who actually pay attention to it. You can summon and get destroyed within 2 seconds of summoning around multiple plants or a sunflower, Citron and or Pea can solo wait for you and get in their gatling mode (or for citron stun) and take you on themselves. Not to mention it takes a long time to exit the vehicle...
Also what makes you say scientists are stronger in this game than they were in GW1? Aside from that upgrade for long range. I'm actually curious. Cause if you mean speed boast, that's given to pretty much everyone. Same with damage upgrade...but even so the damage and speed buff isn't extremely different...it'll be like a extra 3-5 point difference. But I guarantee it doesn't make the scientist that much more deadly...a good scientist player is a good scientist player.
He's not commenting on the Mech after a day into the beta is he? Everything he's saying is logical. Nobody is judging it, and saying oh well X kills it, and Y and Z can tag team it doesn't really justify why it has double the health anything else does.
You say it can be destroyed in 2 seconds, but it can also rampage and destroy half the plants team if it isn't focus fired, and whilst that is being focus fired all the other zombies are having a field day.
Both teams should have access to ridiculous abilities if it gives one team an unfair advantage, and that goes for CC abilities too. Hard counters only work if you're in the right place at the right time, with the right class and assuming you're on full health and the ability isn't on cool down and that's also assuming you're not visible to anyone else whilst you root yourself into the ground.
I'm not backing him up because I'm unable to deal with one, when I see one coming my way I run and hide.
People also claim that it's possible to burrow when you see a solider shooting a ZPG, or when Super Brainz shoots his fireball. It's all just trash talk because the animation to burrow after you see someone doing all these is slower, and it's the same for a Mech. I was lucky enough to chomp an Imp just as the beam came down as he called the Mech and he called it after I burrowed, to save himself...if I wasn't close to him he would have got in the Mech in time and I bet he has done it many times before.
The class in general is ridiculous, even if he had 25 Health it still wouldn't justify having a ridiculous CC like that. Anyway let's not discuss his health, it's not fair to compare Imp and a Mechs health with the damage output of a Pea Gatling.
That is like giving Chomper 500 health and saying, "It is fine because an Engineers Bolt Blaster can wreck him still." Difference here is, Chomper has no range whereas the Mechs, most of them at least can shoot across the map and kill you in seconds.
I simply think it's an added stress to the plant side, unnecessarily, and unless you all band together to take it down quick, it's a pain. Even banding together to take one down takes the attention off of all the other zombies around. There's nothing the plant side can do to actually force the attention of the zombie team to unify against it like a Mech can. There simply isn't. So I think it's a bad design choice. Especially when only one side has it.
I think it's a cool concept, I can see why they wanted to add it. But it throws balance to the wind and it will always be that way. This game, GW2, would have been a lot better off keeping it strictly to normal characters. Putting in Mechs with multiple times the HP of a normal character is a mistake if you don't give the other team a fair counter. There's no fair counter to it.
I have to dump my abilities on it. It takes like a whole Solar Flare to take one down. It's presence automatically gives the zombie team a big advantage. Having the plant team dump their abilities into this one thing, focus their attention to it, leaves the Plants weak. The zombies around them have their abilities. They get to keep them. The plant primaries only go so far. Most fights, if it was just normal character vs normal character, are tuned with the inclusion of their abilities. If I don't have them then I'm at a huge disadvantage and it's my primary against zombies with abilities plus their primary, then you lose. And you get pushed back further and further. I don't quite get how it can be defended without a clear cut counter or equivalent to it. I see it as an unnecessary stress. It's definitely a stress. You can't act like it's not one.
And welcome back Zaheen. I thought you were gone.
Well I'm sort of back, for a day or so heh.
I ordered the parts for my car but it might be starter motor or something else, thought I'd have a quick peek at these addictive forums as a break...
