The Legendary Unicorn Chomper

I know they're worlds apart, that's why I said so in the post. Though to be fair gaming is becoming a sport, having ESPN picking up gaming, though that's besides the point.

As far as your Call of Duty reference, some of them have had more than just player cards as rewards. You don't get the gold weapon skins without being a 10th prestige or whatever, do you? You said it yourself, you didn't care to level up and so you didn't get the reward for doing it, granted you didn't know there was such a reward but still. The Unicorn was created for the sole purpose of rewarding those to did care enough to slog through the ranking system and reach the top of the pile, its not meant to be something to anger people who didn't want to rank up. Its a bonus, not a punishment. How fair it is would be subjective honestly, think of it from the other side would it be fair to spend months ranking up to earn something only to have it given out later to everyone who didn't put in the effort?

I'm sorry if I'm coming off as an elitist ding dong but honestly every game has top-tier rewards that are exclusive to certain tasks. I'll never have the top of the line armor in a game like Halo because I'm not the greatest at the online portion, so how fair of them would it be to start giving it out to people who don't put forth the effort and earn it the way they intended. At the end of the day the developers thought it was a good idea to reward max rank players from GW1 and created a special thank you for them. I don't think any disrespect was intended.

You seem to have forgotten the original post. i said give us a way to EARN it in gw2, not hand it out. I said make a task just as hard, if not harder to complete in gw2. those rewards in cod are for the game you are playing. imagine how angry the players would be if the next cod states that you have to go back to cod ghosts and reach max level to get a gun EXCLUSIVE to max rank in ghosts. idk about you, but ghosts was the worst cod to date and i wouldnt have fun completing that task. i just want a FUN option to earn my unicorn chomper. dont get me wrong GW1 is fun as hell, but once you start focusing on the challenges then it becomes a chore and i dont want my video game time to feel like a second job. thats the soul reason why i quit destiny. it felt like a chore, not fun. i have a restricted amount of time to be on anyway because of school and work, so i think it would be fair to those who couldnt put the time in for gw1, but would put time in gw2 for it.

I didn't forget the OP, I'm just sticking with my opinion that the developers meant it to be a max rank reward, the pack containing the Unicorn is called "313 Max pack" or whatever it was, the way you're supposed to get it is being max rank. The developers even generously left the window open for an entire year so those who want it can go back and earn it. You're right though, leveling in GW1 was a chore and that's why we got rewarded, it was terrible and now we've actually got something to show for it. I know I'm not going to change your mind and I'm sure you get my perspective as well.

Oh and I quit Destiny too, that game got to be so boring. Earning gear was literally a part time job.

if i were still 15 then i would have no problem grinding out gw1, but im almost done with premed and my free time will absolutely go out of the window within the next year. im about to leave for my university in the summer, so i just want to be able to at least know when i do play gw2 theres a chance i could get it. just like you said about halo how you could never get the max rank armor, it could be the same with gw2. maybe ill never get the unicorn chomper since it would be an end game reward, but knowing that its in the game would be nice

Think about it, I'm probably level 123 in GW1. Say I take your advice and load up GW1 and play until I get all the way to 313. Oh wait, the community's likely moved on OR I get into games with maybe 20 players tops? Yeeeah, getting to 313 is a lot more monumental at that point. And if the community dies, which I expect it to since the sequel is out, then it'll be impossible.

Soooo.. Yeah. Either keep the chomper exclusive and people who didn't make it to 313 can deal or make it available SOMEHOW in 2. But please don't tell people they can just go back and level up. That's asinine lol.

Its hardly asinine, I was just playing GW1 last night to get my nephew's profile up to max rank for his Unicorn (and I think its fun) and I was still able to find a game of Garden & Graveyards in less that ten seconds. There are tons of people still playing, honestly.

Hell, as long as we're all waiting for Rose to get the nerf, it's the perfect time to go back and earn some GW1 ranks.

I'm a 313er and pretty proud of it. When it was announced after the beta I decided I was going to go for it. I was level 140 then and getting to 313 was one of the hardest things I've ever done in gaming. I do agree that the unicorn chomper should be exclusive to maxing out GW1 - HOWEVER. Gaming is all about fun, Popcap I believe are all about fun. It's actually not a bad idea introducing a system where current  players of GW2 can earn it. NOT STRAIGHT AWAY mind you, out of respect for the players who went to the trouble. Maybe in 6-12 months or so (let us bask in our glory for a while). Then I'd make it really really hard to get, so those players can appreciate the effort too.

Something like promoting every existing chomper in the game to max level  - not sure how many chomper are in the game now but surely thats got to be 300-350. Now that would be worth it.

I could agree with that, give players of GW2 a way to earn it AFTER the year has passed to earn it legitimately. Possibly towards the end of the game's lifespan after all of the free DLC has already dropped, let the completionists have it.

as long as you dont play a class that has to be in close to get kills then youll be fine against rose
