This game is pay to win? What card game isn't?
I keep reading people complain that this game is pay to win and you'd have to play years to get the cards without cash...
Well, what's hearthstone? I've spent a lot on it. I tried a few months ago to go back and see how stock decks do... not nearly as well as here.
How about yu gi oh? Nope. Sorry. People who pay can definitely build overpowering decks against those who haven't.
Magic? Sorry... its the grandfather of pay to win. There were cards that cost hundreds of dollars (either second hand, or buying enough packs to get them) in that game...
They're businesses. They want to make money. On that note, this game is more fair about giving you cards than any of those.
Just food for thought. I know these aren't the only ones. But they are the top four... maybe pokemon, but again, online or physical, it costs money to get higher level play.
There are games like mma fed where you can earn every card, but you can still get there faster by way of paying for energy... and that engine is wildly broken.

I have not played other collectible card games, but the PvZH card procurement system seems really good to me. Yes: it is difficult to get all the cards without paying (it takes a lot of time), but the truth is that the process is fully fun, and also with the cards that you are getting along the way you can always make a competent deck and face almost any rival (it is not really necessary to have all the existing cards in one draw). The legendary cards are, of course, more difficult to obtain, but the good thing is that they anyway can be obtained without having to pay.
One of the things I like most about PvZH is just that all cards are affordable without having to pay. There are no exclusive payment cards.
