Interesting that you guys are pushing infinity mode. Sorry you probably dont want to hear this, but personally I really dont like it, and I have been somewhat critical of it in these forums. To me it seems like an end game mode (idea copied from one game in particular) that has been tacked on and is very exclusive in nature. This worries me because the rest of the game goes out of its way to include everybody. GW is one of thew most family freindly game out there, and I think infinity mode is anything but family friendly. Because of my circumstances I generally solo most stuff. Infinity mode is pretty hard to do (considering you have to do it more than once to acquire the legendary characters) particularly by yourself.
In answer to you question my highest wave so far is 20 had about 14000 shards (from memory). On level 21at the very start I was in the wrong place at the wrong time and lost all my life in about 3 seconds. Thats another thing that pisses me of about infinty mode, there are no second chances.
My suggestions for improvement (for somebody with my skill level and play style)
1) make it so you can save shards between games
2) give the mode matchmaking
3) allow AI partners
I sort of hope that you may at a later stage make acquiring the legendary characters available in some other way. I'm a completionist - level 313 from first game only missing one achievement - so I'm happy to work for stuff. Given the exclusivity of the rewards in infinity mode unfortunately there is going to some stuff that I may miss out of in GW2 - but it wont be for the lack of trying.
I don't mind the rest but I, too, would love to save shards. In fact, that's how I originally thought it worked. . . .

Absolutely not. The rewards are too great for the things you are asking. The mode is fine just the way it is. They should increase the difficulty a bit more once you reach 20+ though because that is when you start to get enough shards for an infinity chest.

Fine that's your opinion. Why don't you go and whip yourself in your spare time while your at it. Say and think what you like, but the dominant opinion about infinity mode here runs contrary to yours. "the rewards are too great for the things you are asking" - give me a break, they are 6 freaking characters - get a grip man this is only a game and spose to be a family friendly game at that.
Those six characters you speak of so casually are some of the strongest in the game and therefore should not be easy or in your case CONVENIENT (save my shards) to obtain. Infinity is a proper and appropriate way to obtain them. If it were up to me, you wouldn't be able to get ANY legendary/party pieces from the sticker shop. As I've said before, infinity time is the first real challenge in Garden Warfare. Its not about the difficulty, its about the infrastructure. This mode does not award you for just playing in it as you would for completing a G&G or vanquish session.
You have to "win" so to speak or progress far enough. You can't sit back and let your team do everything while you shoot in the air and expect to collect coins at the end. I expect the devs to add more modes like this in the future as the implement more variant types and abilities. Everything can't be bought in the sticker shop.
