To Gesture, When Not to Gesture
So, a friend, who only tried the first GW a couple of times, commented on how much he disliked the taunts in the game. He thinks it's a rude thing to do, and likened it to tea-bagging in other games.
So what do you all think? Do you do it often, never, or rarely. When do you think it's appropriate-if ever, and when is it not?
To me, I think it should be reserved for special situations. If you're locked in a fierce one-on-one battle with a foe, and you know only one of you is going to come out alive, then to me it's a celebratory dance, more than an in-your-face disgrace one. Though I'll admit, I have on occasion run over to the defeated rival and danced over their lifeless corpse, so bad on me for that. 😃
I also think it's appropriate if there's another player in the game who has repeated killed you, while you haven't gotten them once. If you managed to finally get a little payback, a one time taunt is fine. But don't start to make it personal. That is a definite no-no!
I don't condone doing it after every single kill. You might have hit a foe with one little bullet, which finished them off because they were already so weak, and that is just a matter of lucky timing, nothing to celebrate. So don't. It just cheapens the taunt.
And definitely don't be stupid enough to do it, if it's likely to get you killed by another opponent, or if there's anything else going on around you, that you should be more focused on--like saving a team mate.
For the most part though, I think the taunt/dances are better used to communicate with your own team. Nothing strengthens a team like acknowledging your other team mates. And that helps make a better game for everyone!
