Trolley Target Shooting: Are Players The Targets?
This morning I set my Giddy Park to private and hopped down to spend a little time to see if the Gnome Gnight event would spawn for me (it did) but while I was goofing around waiting I noticed that the "Trolley Target Shooting" announcement was conspicuously absent- I've gotten accustomed to it constantly popping up in the Public Park and essentially replacing all the previous "ride for coins" prompts which we received previously.
This made me wonder about Trolley Target Shooting.
Like most players I've ridden the Trolley a bunch of times and shot a bunch of targets and I've noticed that the Trolley ride doesn't get a marker the way the previous ride-for-reward prompts did and also noticed that regardless of what targets I shot or how many there was no extra reward for my participation.
When I noticed the prompt was absent in Private play I suddenly wondered about the nature and purpose of this prompt and it occurred to me that every time it pops up a bunch of one team or another sprints over and starts up the Trolley ride and that, in turn, prompts a running skirmish as Plants and Zombies shoot at the riders or at the pedestrians which the ride carries them past.
My question is this-
Is the purpose of the Trolley Target Shooting prompt to simply get a large number of both factions gathered at the ride knowing that, inevitably, the riders will shoot at the other faction as they ride around the Park and that the other faction will shoot at the riders? Are the real "Targets" to be shot actually just whomever might be riding on the Trolley, or perhaps the opposing players which one might ride past?
- @realitysquared I had this pop up this morning & unlike the other day when I posted asking about it, I found that when I went to the trolley ride & set it off with the button golden targets appeared all over the place. So it's more like the "Ride the whatever for coins".
I have seen in Bug Reports that someone's posted that the message is popping up almost permanently, even when the game isn't properly active, so I'd guess that might have been an issue for you today.
