Turf Takeover Help

Recently I've been playing Turf and its just been a huge mess for me.

Firstly, I always get the same lobby with the same players with the same result: The enemy team had 3 Black Bar players who all seem to just run in and flawlessly kill half our team. We sit behind a wall shooting at anything that moves before we peek and we get shot at by the same 5 people. Ive tried the enemy teams idea of going 3 Oaks and just having a sunflower sit on us, but that doesnt even work. It works for them, but now us, and I have no idea what other tactics to do. Ive tried sniping with Cactus/ Dreadbeard but I end up getting shot from behind first anyways. I try to push for the cap before being blown up immediately. Citrons shield gets erased, My damage is HALVED against certain enemies for no apparent reason. Enemies run away flawlessly but when I run, half the enemy team is all guns blazing on me all of a sudden. All Stars shield immediately goes away for some reason (the dummy isnt getting shot, I guess the dps is just that massive) and I try to leave for a new lobby, it puts me on the same one, on the same team. every single time. I can never switch to the other team. I just want this game mode to be fun but its just been a series of horrible match ups and I dont know how to fix it. I've improved my game play a little better by doing PvE. I went onto the Discord server for help, and they keep saying things like "Wizard OP, Oaks Bad, etc etc" without any rhyme or reason. Why is Wizard op? Why not use Oak? They seem pretty good whenever I fight them. Its just in practice, it never seems to catch on in Turf wars.

Now with my salt-induced-rage of that wall of text, I have a few questions.

Firstly: What is a good Attacking Team Composition consist of? What about a Defense one?

How can I help my teammates push to the objective without being stuck?

What is the most major threat to our team; and how can we deal with it?

What is an easy-noob friendly character to play on Offense/Defense? Im most experienced with Peashooter and Super Brainz. I play a little bit of All Star, Scientist, and Citron.

What Plants Counter what Zombies? and Vice Versa.

The enemy team has 5 Black Bars. Ours has either one or zero. Are we screwed or do we have potential?

IS Wizard Op? And why/why not?

When should I be pushing the payload? When is a good time to cap?

And please keep the answers serious. Im pretty upset about how all my matches are turning out.

  • @Casenator485 Oi honestly I feel your pain
Now I know for certain I'm not the best player ever but I'm quite good. And everyday I feel I'm on the losing them and the same tactics happen to me and I rage and swear and just play the Sims lmao.
  • Unfortunately there is no “best” team makeup for either assault or defense on Turf Takeover because skill level, familiarity with the classes, team cooperation, coordination and tactics all play a big role in what is “working” and what is not during any particular match.

Five top tier ranked players on one team is likely a group of players since the game is not supposed to stack one team like that consistently but will tend to do so when the players are grouped together. Since they are likely grouped to also likely they are on voice chat to increase their coordination.

When you wind up in one of those lobbies, where you’re simply not having any fun, don’t just quit to Giddy Park and then immediately jump straight back into the portal for another game because chances are almost guaranteed you’ll be put right back in the same lobby. Instead spend a good 10 minutes goofing around in Giddy Park, Ops, or one of the PvE regions before going back. The delay time allows for other players to fill the lobby you left which increases the chance that you’ll get placed in a different one where you can hopefully have more fun.

  • As far as my understanding...

Overpowered character: Scientist with Steam Blaster, Spacestation with passengers.

    Strong plant: Pea Shooter, Acorn.

    Strong zombies: Soldier, All-Star, Wizard.

(I sometimes hear that skilled player can use Chomper and 80s Action Hero much well, but I can't use them like that.)

  • To be honest in games such as turf their really isn't any team work and players just go of and do their own things. I can't really answer your questions because their is no true answer to "When to push the objective" Peashooter and foot soldier are nice characters to start of with. As for what counters what I can't really give an answer either. Some players believe nightcap is a good counter for deadbeard, however a good deadbeard counters nightcap. Just find a character in each category (attack, defence, and support) and side that you can practice and when playing see what the team is lacking and fill in the needed role. I would recommend foot solider, all star, and scientist. For plants peashooter, citron, and sunflower.

  • @Casenator485 What platform and what region do you play on?

Btw the other poster is right about waiting 5 to 10 minutes before re entering a game otherwise it'll put you in the same game

I think, following allies may be good. If you fight against strong character used by skilled player by yourself, you may lose.

Support your allies and be supported by your allies. Or use overpowered (or strong) character to vanquish.
