unable to play pvz garden warfare, hangs on menu page

Hi,

Purchased pvz a couple of days ago (pc version, download). The game starts, but when the game menu appears, I can see mouse movement but I get no response to clicks or any key I press. I do see the custom mouse pointer moving around.

Furthermore, I was unable to get a refund although the game is eligible according to the confirmation mail I received.

I could really use some help here...
