Wall-Nut Hills Mansion

I'm glad that we still get one map to play with on G&G but having to play this map over and over made me realize that the mansion in Wall-Nut Hills is practically impossible to defend. The idea of it is fine. Usually the strategy seems to be to set up as many obstacles and traps in front of the door as possible to prevent them from entering. Only it seems like as long as a zombie makes it within a 4 ft.(ish) radius of the door, it counts as an entry.

I can't count the amount of times I vanquished a zombie at least a few feet away from the door where the game counted him as an entry. It's hard enough to guard against the scientists that will warp to the door, it's even harder when all somone has to do is hop over a row of tallnuts, KO on a potato mine a few feet from the door and still count towards their goal.

It's great if your playing as the zombies but terrible when playing as the plants.

I could also be wrong thinking that an entry counted when someone entered the upstairs door. Either way, this final stage is far too easy. It is over before it reaches the 2:00 mark if even that.

  • The best way to defend the mansion is to keep them from even getting into the yard, hold down their teleporter so they have to keep advancing up the hill with the coconut cannons, use cacti and gatling peas to take them out as they scurry up the hill. By the time they do breach your defenses most of the time will be gone and they won't stand a chance of getting all 5 zombies inside. Just be wary of scientists who warp past the obsticles and zombies that try to sneak up on the left side stairs. You should only need two people to defend the top entrance, preferably a cactus that can drop potato mines on the zombie piles to blow them up without even noticing they're there.

Good strategy, I may just need to adjust a bit. Seems like my focus is always defending the doors.

If you get a camo cactus and sit up above the cannons, you can pick of zombies left and right, it's amazingly fun.

For the first time ever I witnessed the plants win on this. I was on the plants team and I had someone on my team who had the same idea as me - to hold down the teleporter. We prevented them from getting their teleporter up and didn't really let them into the main garden (with the bridge).

Even with that considered though it's definitely too easy and in favour of the zombies for two teams of equal skill. If the zombie team were any good they could easily have got their teleporter up (think they only had one engineer and a scientist even intererested in fighting for teleporter control).

I think it needs to be made harder for the zombies. It's just way too easy to jackhammer your way in and there's not much the plants can do about it. Maybe if the zombies were prevented from using their "Y" movement ability in the final area (with the bridge) even that would help the plants a bit.

Yep got to agree with crimson on this one ( if your defending try to keep the pressure on the teleporter and engineers ) and try to keep or slow the advance to the point where the attackers are having to dodge boulders ! - Try and keep the attackers on the driveway )

  • Hey so gotta say first of all, I absolutely love this game, it's just so different from everything that's been being released the past couple of years; however ever since downloading the Garden Variety Pack (and I'm sure this has been addressed already) the Gardens & Graveyards mode as been stuck on Wall-nut Hills map.

I'm almost sure there's not a fix that I could perform my self, so I'd like to know if anyone else is having this problem? And has EA/Popcap mentioned anything about this? I'm aware they said something about updates fixing crashes (although I'm unsure if that was for Xbox One only, I have the 360 version), but I'm not entirely sure they addressed fixing the map rotation.

    Thanks!
