I really do not understand the state that the franchise is in right now, there has not really been any information regarding any of the PvZ Shooters or PvZ Heroes in the last year from PopCap or EA.
I firmly believe that this franchise could be turned around, why is that you might wonder? Well, the GW games were fun, popular, unique and lots of players play them. GW seems like a great game and this still applies, whereas GW2 improved on that even further. The problem arose when BFN came out, and it went in a completely unnecessary direction from my understanding. Instead, BFN could have built on the GW franchise and continue to add content, as well as removing unnecessary content, but instead they went a completely different direction to the other GW games. As the saying goes: "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."
Now, I really like BFN personally, although the replayability is quite lacking. I have who knows how many Coins now. I do not even notice Coins or how much I have either. I do wish the Prize Maps did change every year, rather than repeating the same Prize Maps, but due to the game's discontinued support that did not happen, although it may have been planned possibly that they would change every year if the game did not get cancelled? It also does not take that long to max rank all characters with specific grinding methods or to complete the free roam regions. And the fact that updates were cancelled with about a year of game development and nothing more is really annoying and unexpected, as I really looked forward to the updates.
I would really love a new shooter, and of course the same applies to other players. If this was the case though and this would be planned to happen, it should happen sooner rather than later. This is because some players are going to start leaving the PvZ Shooter franchise as it will start to get boring for them with no new content. Early advertising and a small amount of leaks for this would show players that another shooter is being worked on, the game would be more known and it would be something to look forward to as well. Of course though, the game should not be rushed, although just letting players know that another game was in the works would be useful.
Well, I hope that we get more information from PopCap or EA about the franchise as a whole, as currently we have not heard much information regarding it. I would like to know what is going on rather than being unaware. Hopefully we will get more information about these PvZ games soon, as I am sure that lots of the the community would like to know.
