I don't think we'll ever get a new PvZ shooter the way we envision it, and even if we did, we'll have no control over how it should be presented, detail-wise.
In a perfect world, we (the players and forumers) would design a new PvZ shooter in our own desired spec, the way it should be, the way it's MEANT to be.
As it is, EA's control of PopCap's finances makes everything impossible to do. PopCap - as a game studio - must be made independent; they must break away from EA.
