I was having issues with 6 different xbox controllers. The left thumbstick kept drifting forward. Both of my new controllers have the same tension as the 360, so it's more firm and have had no issues with forward drift since I've had these.

I think I've played so many games with a lot of fwd motion on my 360 that my thumbsticks eventually had similar drift issues, I did my best to clean them regularly but I never took them apart, there's probably some gunk in there that I couldn't clear out which might have caused the buggy calibration. Plus controllers go on sale often so there's less of a sting to the wallet when you buy a new controller for $30ish every 2 years than dropping $200 to upgrade one for the long run...that said, I think you need a Warmachine controller to go w/iron man.
