Which Imp for pvp?
I've been playing with lil drake but his mech seems underwhelming. Any ideas?

It all comes down to your preference, but I think the Pylon is the best, with the default Imp at a close second once you get his upgrades, like damage and reload.
As for Z-mechs? Pylon or Z-7.
