Why doesn't Popcap love this game as much as the first?

First game we had:
Garden Variety, which added a new map, a new mode, and a secondary ability for each ability for every character.
Zomboss Down, which added a new Gardens and Graveyard map, 8 new characters, and new cosmetics.
Tactical Taco Party, which added Berry Shooter, Citrus Cactus, mixed mode and vanquish confirmed, and Jewel Junction
BLING! Update, which added a new map, suburbination, and the Plasma Peashooter
We got Chester Chomper, and Dr. Chester for free.
Balancing was faster, when Berry Shooter ruined the game, it got patched pretty fast unlike this one.
Legends of the Lawn, a new game mode, more cosmetics, and 7 new characters
All in less than a year, then the game lost support....
The sequel
All the cheeto abilities have been removed and five new abilities were added, however only two are in the regular game, heal beam of science and chomp cannon. Bigger Better Butter and Super Ultra Ball are locked to deluxe version only. Unicorn warp is only for those rank 313 in the first game and can only be used by the Unicorn chomper.
Our first 'major update' was Graveyard Variety, which was only balance changes, a new map, and some new cosmetics
Our second major update was Zombopolis Part 1, which we got two new variants (finally), new cosmetics, and a new herbal assault map
Our third major update is Zombopols Part 2, which adds a community goal meter and some new quests, also horrible balancing.....
So far, Popcap has shown more interest into PvZ Heroes rather than this game. I really hope they add new secondary abilities for the new classes and new variants soon, also maybe a new game mode. Really getting tired of balancing being the substance of these updates....and only two new variants after launch so far with again no new abilities...
