Why I think imp is actually kinda balanced

I always hear that imp is underpowered, but honestly, I think he’s actually kinda balanced, here’s why

1. Imp gets a second life with a mech

Imp can call in his mech and be immune to everything (except Snapdragon’s fire but it’s a glitch). It allows imp to cheat death basically

2. Lower TTK makes up for his lower hp

BFN has a lower TK then previous titles (for example, solider’s weapon in gw2 did 8d damage a shot up close with no critical and in bfn, his weapon does 5 per shot (correct me if I’m wrong)), this allows imp to be very resistant, especially with his small hit box.

3. Impaka does a lot of damage

Imp does a lot of fast damage with a long range, it’s hard to not get dented hard without using an ability to escape

4. Explosive escape is op

Gw2 had it so mech had a delay for explosive escape so you can’t just run into a group and explode. In bfn, imp can go into mech, then immediately escape, without giving the plants a chance to destroy mech before it explodes. In addition, the radius of the explosion is too big, it’s very hard to escape.

I agree though, his weapon does too little damage and gravity grenade being underpowered yes. Have a nice day everyone.

  • As someone who mained imp until the recent changes I think he is underpowered. However you make some good points.

  • @agqwpe663oe6 Splash damage for Peashooter got buffed so Imp gets destroyed fast even when jumping, sprinting, double jumping, sprinting + jumping, sprinting + double jumping and walking which is why he needs a little damage buff like .50 or at most 1.00. Grody Goop destroys Imp unless he is healed or was standing in the Heavy Help buff range he will get Vanquished in seconds maybe the Impkata armor could save him but I haven't tried that yet
  • @agqwpe663oe6at best, imp is just hard to hit. Imp is unbalanced, but he is more underpowered than anything. Low damage throughout his entire kit, except for Ripcord which is kind of op. His damage is super low and he can snipe, despite having a small hitbox that should otherwise make him a close range attacker. Imp is a joke lol

The high TTK definitely gives more agile characters a clear advantage, which is why i have grown to resent a lot of the classes. The TTK is still far too high for a game with characters that are more agile. The speed that which classes can move makes it very frustrating to kill players when classes deal such low damage.

  • @agqwpe663oe6 I think that on his own, Imp isn't that underpowered. He seems to be pretty fine. I think that he is underpowered because all of his main counters got buffed. Peashooter, Snapdragon, and Citron are stronger now and are quite effective against him. They don't exactly have to try to aim at him and they straight up have abilities that stop Imp dead in his tracks if he is hit by it. What made him balanced was having some form of a situation where he could deal with his counters. Since explosions were made better and more consistent as well with being bigger, Imp mostly suffers from a Plant explosive damage meta as he does not hold up well against them.

I never mained imp but did very well when I played with him pre patch and I will say now that I don't enjoy playing him...his mech seems very hard to kill plants to the point where I don't even bother with it, and the TTK for imp seems low.  I feel mech escape was the only nerf required.

  • @Gormey Exactly my thoughts. Imp was just about fine pre-patch and I feel that he was overnerfed for no reason. Mech feels underwhelming too. I just don't enjoy him much after the patch.
