Why is Rux's Items SOOO expensive?

whenever I visit Rux, His Items are like really expensive. Look, I get that he is a black market dealer, but I think the Prices can be Dropped a smitch so that ll players can have a chance to get at least one or 2 items before he leaves.

  • Some players will bank at least 1,500,000 coins when anticipating a Rux visit through this websites PvZ calender feature.

This amount is crucial because there ARE rare times when Rux will sell you pieces of Legendary Characters for 1 million coins flat. Since skills are 500,000 usually on their own coupled with the fact that Rux doesn't really sell these two particular items often (I wouldn't buy any legendary hats from him until you've got all characters unlocked, personally, since there are chances to get those hats in the packs you're opening), you'll find yourself sitting on top of those 1,500,000 coins more often than not pondering about whether or not to spend them... especially if Rux decides not to deliver on the goods you saved that money for =/

Special Abilities are 500,000 coins usually. =/ And they don't come around every month sadly.

Hats I've seen go from Special quality to Legendary quality. Price ranges vary based on that, but the most expensive hat I've seen (Legendary) was 500,000, cheapest being 300,000. Under that I've seen Scrumptious/Infinity hats go for 150,000-250,000

I dunno why the hats are pricey, but I do know that you can spend a million coins on one pack and not get a single legendary. I think that's why they may be so pricey

  • Pricey because you guarantee to get it NOW.

    In summary:

    1. Legendary character  (1 million coins per piece).  If you like it so bad, pay him the money. Through sticker pack most likely cost much more than that (depend on your luck) and where you stand on your collection (x / 8000) !!

    2. New abilities (500 coins per ability). If you like it so bad, pay him the money since it will NEVER be SOLD again !

    3. Legendary hat (300 coins). If you like it so much and want it now , pay him. If you can wait, spend money on lottery (sticker pack). You will get few months from now.

I remember when the TOG update came out and I was a novice player scratching my head at the prices.  When you've been playing longer, having a million coins around for expenses like this won't seem like such a big deal.  I've got about 1.5M right now, and when I get on later I will reduce that by about 500K buying the turret packs that come with boss hunt.

  • As someone else mentioned, the items which Rux sells which carry the super high prices are typically things which are either exclusive to him, like new alternate abilities, or things which carry the "Special" or "Legendary" classification.

For "Special" and "Legendary" items the high price tag is due to their rarity; you can either buy it immediately from him for what seems to be a high price tag or you can elect to wait for it to drop at random. For Legendary items and character pieces this could mean spending an exponentially larger amount of PvZ coins waiting for the RNG to drop what you're waiting for so for Players who have been around for awhile what seems to be a high price tag is actually a bargain in some cases.

For other "Special" or "Classic" items you can only collect a limited number of them from the Community Challenges and Mystery Portal events so this allows you to pick them up a little quicker than just waiting for the normal opportunities.

It's not that difficult to cache away coins in anticipation of the next time Rux opens his shop if you invest a decent amount of play time each week in the game and you exercise a little spending self-control at the Sticker Shop.

I've been wondering. Does RUX pull the same nonsense that packs do, reducing new items as you get closer to completion? I'm trying to realistically calculate how long it would take to complete the CP rewards.

Frankly, I don't think it will ever be possible to complete all the CP items.

  • The stated purpose for the entire existence for Rux is to offer you the things you don't have yet, so I would expect that, much like the Phenomenal Character Pack and the Infinity Pack you'll continue to get new stuff without "filler" material until the items run out.

After that I suppose you'll either not be able to buy anything at all from him or maybe he'll just offer his exclusive Consumables forevermore.

One thing RUX hasn't been doing lately is offering the new Legendary items exclusive only through him; those new items came in the FLF update. If RUX has at least 2 of them when he visits again, that'll be a start to earning all RUX-only items in GW2.

    Fingers crossed.
