I think you've missed the point of Boss Hunt.
Boss Hunts are designed deliberately to be complicated, require intense teamwork and to require a high level of skill to complete. It's not a game mode which is targeted at youngsters or novices who are new to the game; the intended player base for Boss Hunt are the Garden Warfare veterans who have high level characters, above average skill sets and experience in how to best use their characters.
The entire game mode is designed to push your skill set to the limit and quite frankly not every player is going to be up to successfully completing it and that's sort of the whole point.
The way I see it, is this is the only way to get rainbow stars aside from the horrid conversion process. The easiest difficulty should at least be accessible by half the player base or more. I can understand higher difficulties being harder. But the easiest being nearly impossible with randoms?
