You want a buff to the Sunflower? How about overheal?
So, their is this huge debate that the Sunflower is such a bad character and that the Scientist is far better and deals more damage despite apparently being a support. The thing that bugs me is that the Scientist in GW1 was clearly the inferior supporter, because he's actually designed to be an assault class that can not only defend himself, but also activly engage most, if not all plant classes. Now, with the addition of the Heal Beam of Science, the Scientist can be just as good at supporting as the Sunflower. This is why some people like Zaheen have suggested to give the Sunflower a shotgun or at least a shotgun variant to bring her to the Scientist level of Power. Despite those ideas having a certain appeal to me as a fan of the Scientist and his "Combat Medic" playstyle, I'm convinced that this won't harmonise with the skill set of the Sunflower as a defensive healing class that doesn't activly go out and gets kills and her huge critical hitbox.
My suggestion would be to give the Sunflower the ability to overheal while the Scientist doesn't get it, effectivly making her the superior medic once again. For those of us that don't know what overheal is: It is a bunch of health on top of your base health, usually provided by small health pick-ups à la Wolfenstein/DooM, a special power-up like pain killer from MW2 (yes, I know, it is a deathstreak and not a power-up) or a healing class like the Medic from the Team Fortress franchise. If this idea somehow gets implemented (I can totally understand why it wouldn't) I would prefer to have it in a Team Fortress style, which means that the Sunflower can temporarly buff the HP of every plant by 50% by using the heal beam, with the buff slowly wearing of if the Sunflower stops to heal her target. This would also allow to make the Rainbow Heal Beam a sidegrade instead of a reskin by adding an effect like faster healing, but slower overheal or the other way around. This could also be a good reason to protect the Sunflowers, since they then could boost the team to capture/defend the point easier than ever before.
But this is just my idea to give a buff to the Sunflower and indirectly the whole Plant team. I'd be interested to hear your opinions on this idea and have you tell me what would be better: a shotgun or overheal.
