I just tried to play a match reeeaally carefully, the zombie player just filled out all of the rows and destroyed me. So, without having to play zombies and without having to stack on legendary cards over the time of months. What tips can anyone give me to help win right now? I use Citron. The Snowdrop/Iceberg Lettuce works well, i've been using that one.
Citron: Guardian / Smarty
Guardian - Creatures with weak attack, but strong HP, with spells that buff unit's HP, substancial amount of teamwork available. EXTREMELY weak to weed spray as most creatures are <=2 attack
Smarty - Lots of effects, freeze, bounce, draw cards etc. Weak creatures.
Citron IMO is one of the hardest to play in the game, because the combo require a lot of smart play.
Advantages:
1. Creatures are super tough, so AOEs don't hurt you a lot, as you have more than enough HP to handle it, making the chickening ineffective against you.
2. has a lot of bullseye available, which allow you to slow down the build up of your opponent's meter
Disadvantages:
1. weedspray kills all the nuts etc,
2. no card draw
Core gameplay:
Your mana curve has to lean heavy, and you have to play really slow. The game forces you to maximize damage per hit, rather than trying to deal damage all the time, so you have to identify the heavy hitters available to you. In Citron, tough beets is definitely the best heavy hitter by far, I would craft it and 4x it auto. The core cards in Citron IMO should look like:
4x Tough Beets
4x Sow Magic Beans
4x Grave Buster
4x Spring Bean
4x steel magnolia
4x Rescue Radish (due to your tough defense, rescue radish is simply amazing)
4x juggernut
The rest is a combination you can fill out, but I would lean heavy, can go more teamwork with carotillery (this card is only usable with steel magnolia buff), the hibernating beary, which is an excellent mid game heavy hitter. Maybe potatoe mines, but I would experiment around with the rest of the cards.
Early game:
Don't look to establish a board, just eliminate anything that comes along that is threatening, mulligan for grave busters, juggernut, pea nuts, etc to be able to defend the early game.
Mid game:
This is where it gets important. You want to build a super strong board vs anyone without a weedspray. try to use steel magnolia when you have 3 or 4 plants around (max is 5 with teamwork). You can rescue radish your steel magnolia to use it again, or just save a plant that's injured.
Late game:
Get ready to use tough beets and magic bean stalk value to overwhelm your opponent. Save your signature power for the late game, where it gets the most value. Don't be afraid to have a little low health.
Luxury cards:
Bowling, this 10 sun card is awesome, especially since Citron can survive until turn 10, but don't put too many of it.
