edit: indeed, it is considered a separate game so you'll have to play from the beginning with the Switch 2 version.
Hi, EA_Cath, I'm glad you're back after so long. I have a suggestion: How about creating a feature to export and import save files from other platforms via the cloud, just like in No Man's Sky?
It would work by linking all our accounts into one, allowing us to select which save file we want to upload or download for use on other platforms—which would be a huge help in maintaining continuous progress without having to start from scratch.

Sorry about that and good luck😢 I'm curious, how does the game perform on Switch 2 compared to Switch 1? Are there any major differences?
To be honest there's not any major differences besides Mouse Controls, GameShare and I think 60fps and better resolution so I guess it's not that big of a deal 🙂↕️
