Merge Academy - Still freezes

It's been over a month, and I still cannot complete Task 4 in the Sewing Room in Merge Academy.  The game just freezes when I click 'complete'.  EA Help is the most pathetically useless form of customer disservice I have ever encountered, they just type 'Pogo is aware of the issue and is working on it' (apparently the boilerplate they give to every issue, regardless of what it is and whether Pogo is actually working on it) and close the cases I submit.  I am beyond disappointed with Pogo's lack of communication, lack of transparency and lack of interest in fixing the many issues plaguing its newer games.  However, they were quick to act on the gems issue!  I guess they only care about their bottom line, not the player experience.

Hello! I've noticed you posted a few times about your recent struggles with Merge Academy. In postings you mentioned that the game freezes and you are not able to click on buttons. So, I have a few suggestions that may help.

Please make sure to take your time and do your own research when make adjustments to your devices.

    Additional troubleshooting:

Update Your Graphics Driver: An outdated or faulty graphics driver can cause various issues. Try updating your graphics driver by going to Device Manager> Display adapters, right clicking your adapter and select "Update Driver" (it will tell you if it needs it or not)

Updates: Ensure you have the latest update and patches for your system. Our computers have several programs running all at once, on occasion if one is trying to update behind the scenes this could cause a lag in performance.

Windows 10 users will need to research online "The End of Windows 10 in 2025" and how this may affect them now and in the future.

Adjust Your Monitor Refresh Rate: Lower your monitors refresh rate to 60Hz.
Right-click the desktop screen and go to: Display Settings > Advanced Display > Refresh Rate > 60 Hz.

Disable GPU Hardware Acceleration: Right-click the desktop screen and go to: Display Settings > Graphics > Change default settings and turn off hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling.

Pogo App: If you have installed the Pogo app on your devices, log out of Pogo remove the app and try reinstalling it and log back in. I personally do not have the app installed on my laptop, so it is possible to play with or without the app.

Power Cycling: This is always a good idea to do this weekly. Unplug your router, let it sit for 2-3 minutes, then plug it back in. This rebooting helps clear the cache on the router.

    Additional Help

An EA Community Manger has also provided a troubleshooting guide for us: Pogo Troubleshooting Guide - Answer HQ (ea.com)

I hope some of these additional steps can help resolve your freezing issue so you can get back to playing Merge Academy!

Take Care and I hope everything works out for you.

  • An issue that only happens after a specific in-game action, and persists across five browsers on three different devices running three different operating systems, on multiple wi-fi networks is obviously NOT a device issue, it's a Pogo side issue tied to that specific in-game moment.   Given that the sewing machine issue has been around for much longer and it's obviously not being actively worked on, I am not holding my breath.   My main purpose in posting here is to see if anyone else is experiencing the same issue.  But most people who have issues are stuck in earlier rooms, and those who have advanced were generally done with this room prior to the September 5/6 update.
