I agree with you totally! There's no point in gaining badges - who cares, anyway? - and I used to enjoy creating avatars that reflected my real life, but there's no point in that anymore, either. I joined Pogo when it was first created (somewhere near 25 years ago) and it was very enjoyable. Now the only games I like are Jungle Gin and Canasta with an occasional foray into a few - very few - of the other games. Both of the ones I enjoyed the most were discontinued, Texas Hold'em and Jewel Academy. Texas Hold'em was always full and everyone loved it. I loved Jewel Academy because it required thought to solve the puzzles. Zip - both gone. The games used to be challenging and fun but once Pogo decided to get greedy the games became almost impossible to win and some like the search games required that you "buy" episodes with gems to even start. I'm almost done, too but have kept renewing in hopes of some of the games improving. I refuse to buy "gems" to play a game so I mostly stick to the harder card games. Pogo says they are bringing back Texas Hold'em but I'm afraid they will figure out some way to screw it up and charge gems to play. One thing that is holding me is that I prefer Pogo's graphics to those on other websites but those don't offset the gems and boring games. Finally, Pogo makes it very hard to report cheaters and sometimes even hard to know if someone has sneaked a bot in to play.
hwdowl I never played Texas Hold'em much myself, but I do hope their new version will be comparable to the old one! I will say that I've seen it's supposed to be a different version that's more similar to the likes of Solitaire Home Story and the other story-based games 😧 I guess we'll have to wait and see how it measures up.
