I’ve been playing SimCity for more than 25 years. Watching its “evolution” over time has been fascinating — unfortunately in the wrong direction.
The latest version might be the most impressive achievement yet. You open the game and suddenly everything is bright red everywhere. It almost feels like a disaster event… except the disaster is the update itself.
Managing production has turned into a chore, and Global Trade HQ now looks like a museum dedicated to beach/mountain expansion items that everyone is desperately trying to sell. Finding something actually useful to fill your empty production slots has become a small miracle.
Instead of fixing obvious issues — like the broken trading system, the endless oversupply in the market, or the artificial price cap — EA apparently decided that treating players like gullible customers is the easier design choice.
Simple improvements could make a big difference: rebalance the market, reduce the flood of expansion items, improve trading visibility, and remove the artificial price limits so the market can regulate itself.
Many of us who have been with SimCity for decades are not asking for miracles — just thoughtful design decisions that respect the players and the spirit of the game.
After 25+ years with SimCity, I never thought the biggest disaster in my city would be an update. If nothing changes, I’ll simply uninstall the game and move on.
Nice, you played it before it was created, nice

SimCity was a stand-alone PC game at one time. So 25 years is accurate. 🙂

Hahaha, that's what I was thinking

If the screen doesn't fill with a pink grid after a few upgrades and the game doesn't freeze, I'll try this.

They're talking about the games that go as far back as Windows XP, SimCity 2000...
But hey...
Peep this, I got simple fixes for so-called glitches.
But, so many players bought a one-way ticket on a two-way street and wonder why they're stuck.
As far as the dissatisfaction with the other elements, I wonder if it's regional because I see way more than Mountain and Beach items. Frankly, I sell everything, too.
