While restoring the damage that you did to my cities with services 2.0, I ran into an issue that makes the game unplayable.
So to restore my police - hospital - firebase - neo Controller, I decided to store special buildings, move houses and add service buildings. Because the buildings are so much weaker than the old ones, I replace two medium size with one large buildings. So plenty of capability to get my houses in the green:
Now take a look below:
The left firestation is just over its capacity. It has a huge overlap with the right firestation, that is just using 1600 out of its 2000 capacity.
Ok, lets 'lift' the left firestation, so the capacity gets redistributed again.
The situation is even worse.
This shows extremely poor game mechanics. The fireman looks in dismay and horror how these two luxury firestations can't get their act together. How is it possible that you release a game like this 'after extensive play testing '?The shame is visible on the poor man's face on so much stupidity by EA
You mean extensive playtesting by marketing.
Even if I succeed by lifting service stations to get a green field, adding or changing a city restores the old **bleep**, and I can try again to solve the issue by lifting service stations. My capital cannot be changed or I have red flags all over. So buildit is forget it. What is the use of a building game when you no longer dare to build because of the problems that arise?
Not that this is a difficult problem to solve for an algorithm. Because in more than a month you haven't been able to hack this problem, let me do it for you.
To calculate correctly, follow the next plan.
- Split into area's that are covered by one or more stations. So above we have an area that is covered only by the left station, an area that is covered by both left and right fire stations and an area that is covered by the right station. You can add stations and create areas that are even covered by 3 or 4 stations.
- Calculate the capacity requirement of each area.
- Sort the areas from the number of stations covered, so first areas are with just one station, the last are the ones with the most overlap.
- Every station applies its capacity first on those houses there is no overlap (and are dependent on this firestation.) So above the left and right areas are assigned first. If capacity is enough, all houses turn green, otherwise the lowest utilization houses are prioritized, the remaining are in red.
- Next we go the overlapping area's - those firestation that have only have one overlapping area donate their remaining capacity to this area. Next, those same areas are filled up first by those with 2 overlapping, filling up their remains on the next area, and this goes upwards untill the list is done. Above the two luxury fire stations would happily supply their remaining capacity on the overlap area and having capacity to spare. (3660/4000 means 340 left)
- In most situations there will be a single or two overlapping area, so this algorithm works most of the time. But in case it doesn't, make it possible to manually reassign houses to a station. These will be treated as preferential placement, and the needed capacity will be deducted from the firestation before the algorithm is started. This minimizes the number of houses that need to be manually re-assigned.
So if needed I can program this for you for a nice price including a few billion simeons, neo simeons and all the other 50 currencies in the game. Let this challenge you to get your act together fast for a decent upgrade.
Because playing with this poor mechanics is no fun and horrible. And unworthy of this game i played for 11 years, but likely not much longer.........
