The only thing I can advise is create a ticket at the zendesk email @SummitVista3310 provided above. I have fully updated Android & haven't experienced your issue. Be patient. I have waited over a week for a response beyond the 1st standard email sent out. It really does sound like a glitch/compatibility issue. Hang in there. In the meantime, football in on.
I was now able to update the game via PlayStore, which was not possible untill now. The Problem was solved. I have not received any answer from helpdesk by Now.

The game starts again after I installed the recent update.
Unfortunately, it started from scratch.
After a few moves, I could log in to Google Play Games, but there was no previous game data any more :oC
Looks like my old city was deleted.
Does anyone have any advice on how to recover it in an alternative way?
I have contacted Zendesk as well, but I dont expect much of that, based on past experiences

@BluestreakNL Any chance you saved the data to your Facebook account too? If so, try log out and log back in.
Hope you can recover your city.
